I don't know if it is the way he's being construed in interviews or if this is the real Johnny Bones Jones, but dude seems to be buying into his own hype lately.
Yea i like the kid but he is already putting himself as the greatest ever i want shogun to show him whose boss.
I like him too, but I want him to lose this weekend. I think Bader's best chance is just out muscling him and lay n praying a decision.
Am I missing something? Doesn't seem overly arrogant at all for an MMA fighter. Kind of the usual MMA pre-fight talk. And Bader's only shot IMO is to catch JJ slipping and drill him square. Hes definitely got a shot but JJ seems like a pretty smart fighter and Greg Jackson will have him on a great gameplan. I don't think he makes any mistakes and I think he handles Bader but Bader definitely has a puncher's chance.
How can you blame Jones for speaking his mind? Dude has been crushing everyone in convincing fashion -- same can be said for Bader but like speeds say he needs to stop gassing after the first round and add on to the fact that there are holes to his game. I see Jones handling Bader come Saturday. Nate Diaz can talk shit and be arrogant but Jones can't?
A lot of people hate both Diaz's because they're incredibly arrogant and talk so much shit. Its also not a surprise, the Diaz bros have been around a while and we expect it from them. I think the disappointment comes in how he used to be humble (i.e. his comments in the ring after the Hammil "loss") but now hes saying hes a better mixed martial artist and deviating from his previous demeanor. Still don't think hes saying anything out of the ordinary and its only borderline cocky. I'd just call if confidence really considering this is MMA where guys need to be confident and say stuff like this all the time. Diaz brothers' comments are on the furthest side of the spectrum.
I'm not saying JJ can't talk himself up, I'm just saying there has seemingly been a change in his personality. He's either growing in confidence or we're just now hearing the real JJ speak. Nick Diaz is a defending world champion. Jon Jones' best win is over a guy who was cut from the UFC. Bit of a difference.
^hence why I didn't use Nick (Nick earned the right to talk shit). Nate on the other hand needs to STFU. I think JJ is becoming more confident is a better explanation as to why the personality change.
