In the end it might be better for LMA to sit out and rest but Man he deserves to replace Yao. I mean if it were a real life situation, and you had Love, Nash, and LMA on your bench, it would be an eeeasy choice! http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/all-star-2011-nba/2011/02/la-to-l-a-rejected/ How bad do you want LMA, who dominated Duncan, to be put in? I'm trying to start a campaign here! If you don't have anything nice to say about LMA, keep it to yourself.
Man that Alley Oop over Duncan the other night was Spectacular! I couldn't believe my eyes in the RG. Isn't that what your looking for in the ASG Stern?
The All-Star game is the biggest crock. I was always a proponant of Roy sitting out and resting, same with LA. The ASG is a corporate-driven joke, and the Blazers should want no part of it.
I think there's a pretty strong correlation between "All Star" and "superstar treatment by the refs." So I'd like him in there for that reason alone. Especially because so much of his game now is under-the-basket physical stuff.
I think Stern will name Love. I think of all the players left off the team, right now, Aldridge is playing the best. He's also helping his team win more than anyone else. Watch Stern pick Odom.
I've been an LA fan since I saw him in the McDonalds HS All American game, but Stern hates Portland because he's all about ratings. Thats probably what will drive his decision as it seems to in everything else STOMP
This is exactly why I'm torn about it. I'm not going to get a big rush of pride if a Blazers player is on the All Star team (OK, maybe a little one), but I do believe it is important to be on the team for just the reason you stated. This is a star driven league, right down to the refereeing. That's the only reason I'd want LaMarcus to participate. On the other hand, the guy could use some rest.
If Odom is picked, i think i will cry. LMA or Love definitely deserve that spot. Ideally, both should be on if it wasn't for the coaches picking Duncan just because of his name.
Well, I'm sure his name helped, but so did playing on the team with the best record in the league. If the Spurs were 9-37, he'd still have the same name, but wouldn't be an all-star this year. I personally don't think Duncan deserved it this year, but it does show you how much the coaches that select the all-star reserves value winning. That also explains why the Celtics got four players on the Eastern Conference team. Duncan's numbers are very similar to Garnett's. BNM
Fouled out with 6:54 to play!? talk about snubbed. Sarge snubbed him as well by not establishing him early Quite the week for LMA
If you make the argument that the player whose team has the better record should make it, Duncan should make it. If you say that stats matter more, then Love and Griffin should make it. Either way, Aldridge is left out in the cold. The real travesty is the omission of Zach Randolph (NBA's Western Conference Player Of The Month for January) who has better stats AND a better W-L record than Aldridge.
