PapaG, I don't know you too well, but it seems like you're nitpicking with the stats. You don't favor them when need be, but somehow use them to push a narrative.
You should always play hard. Playing hard and garbage time stats shouldn't make you an all-star, though.
Yep. It's good that we have a forum that is generally aligned with reality in at least this case Ed O.
He made the all-star team because of Stern and Stern alone on an injury replacement. Big deal and there are certainly factors that play into that decision. The coaches on the other hand didn't vote him in. That speaks volumes to me. If you ask John Hollinger he'll tell you that apparently NBA coaches don't have a great respect for his game. If true, sounds like NBA coaches agree with my line of thinking. He's also a part of a piss poor team. If you have a problem with that you can take it up with John Hollinger and the coaches in the NBA.
If the coaches didn't vote Aldridge in, either, even though he's on a better team... what must they think of him? Haha. Your logic is silly here, man. Ed O.
Idk what they think of Aldridge's game. I'm not a mind reader. However, John Hollinger dropped the nugget that they don't have a great respect for Love's game. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Hollinger. In the end Aldridge didn't make it because the Spurs have the best record in the league so Tim Duncan got the spot. Right or wrong it doesn't really surprise me. Had more to do with that than Aldridge's game. "haha"
11 fucking wins. That is the only stat I give a shit about. Allstars carry their teams to victories. Love is a very good player. I wish we had him. But it is laughable for me to consider him an allstar this year. Not with the WORST record in the west. That is nothing to reward or celebrate.
How much a player is getting paid this season has very little to do with how good they are. Jermaine O'Neal's making a lot of money this year too. Aldridge has two very talented vets in Camby and Miller and two youngsters that are playing well in Batum and Matthews.
I think it has little to do with Love coming back home and more with him actually having a great individual season
Zach Randolph's team has a better record AND Zach has a better PER. Why shouldn't he have made it ahead of Aldridge? Ed O.
Hmm, I would guess it has something to do with the inability of Stern or the coaches to see into the future, but who knows.
It's refreshing to see the Blazer players know who is more valuable, and more worthy of being an All-Star. I'm guessing Love is going to get everybody's 'A' game from now on, because it doesn't appear that his stat-padding while being on a shitty team is winning him many fans in terms or coaches or players. Love's the MVP of the Fantasy Dorks, though. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/02/indiana_100_portland_87_pacers.html
Maybe he should have made it over LMA. I disagree, because Zach has Rudy Gay also scoring 20ppg to alleviate some of the pressure to produce every night on offense, but both Zach and LMA deserve to be in over Kevin Love.
The Grizzlies now have a better record, but not when Stern (or the coaches) made the choice. Zach, though, does have a good argument for being shafted (along with LaMarcus). I just hope that LaMarcus takes this (perceived) slight and uses it for motivation for the rest of the season. Kind of like "oh, you want stats? I'll show you stats" and scores like 50 points, grabs 20 boards, and blocks like 9 shots today.
I guess the reason why this bothers me is because it reminds me of when Zach was ripping it up for the Blazers and he couldn't get a sniff of the AStar game. Why was that? Bad rep? Bad record? About the only difference between Zach then and Kevin Love now is that Love has kept his nose clean. Other than that, they were both on shitty teams, they were putting up great numbers, and they were both stat whores.
Something tells me that LMA would take 15/8/2 if it means the Blazers win the game. Love would probably be crying in the corner if he "only" had that production and the team won. He's having a "memorable" season, man! What's the difference between 19 or 20 wins when there is a 20/15 season to be had? Haha!
