OT: Melo to Knicks in 3 way with Minnesota

I can't believe there's not a thread about this here. It broke last night and appears to be near official. I think it works great for all three teams. Knicks get Melo. Nuggets get Chandler, Brewer, and Minnesota's pick (possibly the top pick in the draft). Minnesota gets Anthony Randolph and Curry's expiring contract.

This is going to shake the league. This makes the Knicks a contender out East. But Denver will still make the playoffs with Chandler, I think. This is a big big deal. I'd love to see a Knicks- Heat playoff series. Go New York, Go New York, Go!

So disapointed that Portland didn't get involved in this deal. Although I guess I shsould just accept that this is how it's going to be and move on

Makes sense for the wolves to balk at that, which I guess doesn't make sense for them if you think about it

Knicks get Melo for just Eddy Curry, Wilson Chandler, and Anthony Ranolph?

Is that a joke? This would be on par with the Pau deal in how unbalanced it is in favor of the big market team.

It's not really that unbalanced when you think about it. Consider these two facts: Melo has made it abundantly clear that he plans to leave the Nuggets in free agency and has only one destination in mind -- the Knicks. So faced with the prospect of losing him for nothing at all or at least getting something of decent quality the Nuggets are smart to try and get something.

You're saying it yourself, sorta. Denver is trying to scramble and get scraps rather than nothing at all. I guess that's okay considering the circumstances, but still, the fact remains: they're trading away a ~top 15 player in the league for Wilson Chandler, a glorified scrub in Brewer (who essentially duplicates Afflalo), and a highly protected first round pick.

That's hilarious. The Nets deal was 10x better.

I would love to have Randolph, and Curry for Roy would be amazing. I woul dassume Minny will end up with a pick as well.

So let's say Rudy and Roy for Randolph, a 1st and an expiring? I would do that

What it all boils down to is Melo... the Heat could offer LeBron and Wade for him, but if he isn't willing to sign with Miami, they wouldn't actually pull the trigger. Melo had the Nuggets over a barrel.

Well, then you'll always liekly continue to whine and be disappointed if you are expecting a deal like that. Minnesota is taking on Curry so Denver doesn't have to, saving them a ton of money, and you think Cho should interject himself in the trade, and throw Roy into it? Doesn't really work to just dump something you might not want into a trade, but yeah, I guess I can see why you have complaints with Cho if that's what you expect.

No. I think Cho should have tried to replace Minny in that deal, not simply add Portland into it.

You are nuts if you think big time players would agree to being dealt to Portland.

Also, this has happened what? Once and maybe twice? So there's only one, possibly two "good" GMs in the league? Keep dreaming.

Portland does not have Minny's cap space. That is why they are intergral to the deal. Denver wants to be out of the tax if/when they trade Melo/
