If there was a joke of a thread about pryz... How can we not resign miller to at least a 2 year deal? Miller is the best we are gonna do unless cho learns how to trade. Seriously though... Will be sad to ever see dre leave. He's earned my respect for his play, never getting hurt, heart, and backs his team mates.
Re: Resign miler Agreeing. No PGOTF in sight, screw it. let's stick with the gameplan. Lets see how G.O. is next year but LA is the focal point right now. Roy injury? Having Wes Matthews REALLY softens the blow and if Rudy can continue playing like he has recently we're good to go.
I agree, there's really no good PG in the upcoming draft. We need his veteran presence and wanting to drive towards the basket, arms flailing, and drawing the foul. I want him re-signed.
I've really come to love Miller's game also. Remember when they first were talking to him , as a free agent, he talked about how he could improve the game of certain players on the Blazers, and he seems to be really doing that now. In fact, if i was an opposing coach, i think I would focus on stopping Miller, both his shooting and passing. A bigger defender, like Grant Hill, not only can stop his scoring, but also might be able to block off his lob passes.
OMG. I agree with MIXUM. Andre is seriously underappreciated by a significant portion of Blazers fandom. The way Andre works with Matthews, LaMarcus, Camby, Nico and Rudy, the Blazers are still a team to be reckoned with. If Brandon can strengthen our bench, hit some shots and distribute the ball within the offense, we are back in business.
3 biggest questions facing us are 1. Oden and his extension.... and can he return? 2. Roys health. Bench, starter or what? 3. PG of future is and Miller should get extended?
I'm surprised/impressed that this thread exists. Seems like the loud group of people with opinions on Miller has typically been the anti-Miller camp. The dude's a great PG. Can he knock down 3's? No. Does every NBA player have weakness(es)? Yep. If you expect Blazers' players to be perfect, you're gonna be pissed, and I think that's how some people have been with Miller. He's going to miss his 3's, period. Stop expecting him to all of a sudden double his percentage and appreciate him for the good player that he is.
I've done this. As one of the biggest Miller critics, he has grown on me, and the way he has stood up for LMA, and made him a better player, has won me over. I wub 'Dre...
I think Miller's primary shortcoming, his inability to hit from the perimeter, was mainly a factor when the offense was geared to creating spacing for Brandon to do his thing. Since that's probably off the table as a mainstay of Portland's future, I think the growing connection between LA and 'Dre has to be considered in deciding whether to pick up his option. Frankly, I don't see any other PGs out there that we are likely to be able to get who will be able to do the things that he can as far as running the offense and setting the table for LA. Miller's likely got one or two more years in him as a starting-quality PG. I wouldn't mind seeing him play those two years here.
Not to mention that the biggest beneficiary of 'Dre would be Oden. If GO comes back strong, Miller will feed him in the post like Michael Moore at Old Country Buffet.
No need to re sign him when we have a team option on him for next year I believe. This isnt' a decision that has to be made now.
Absolutely. I've loved Miller's game since Day One. He's an absolute stud. Some of his moves last night were incredible. I've never seen a point guard get to the basket the way he does. Not to mention the fact that no one feeds Aldridge for dunks the way Miller does.
He may stay in school for another year instead of coming out for a draft in a lockout year. Besides that, Portland will have zero chance of actually drafting that kid. Miller is unfortunately Portland's only realistic option for the foreseeable future.
