Jim Buss has always been the prodigal son of the Lakers family. Always been kind of a guy who shouldn't be there running things but he is.

I can't imagine how Blazer fans would react if this Denver situation happened to Portland. Trade rumors left and right involving the team's best player. This is as bad Cleveland with James.

To a western conference rival no less. Its a slap in the face to the Nuggets fans to trade him to the L*kers after all the rivalries they've had the past few years.

Denver doesn't give a shit. It's a Broncos town. The Thuggets are small potatoes.

I think it would confirm for me exactly what the league is really all about. There'd be no more questions about whether or not Stern has shifted all the power to the big markets and the stars ... and I could enjoy the Blazers without expectations.

    Nah, not really.

Unfortunately, if that came to pass, I would stop watching the league. I am not going to watch a league where 90% of the teams are stooges for big name teams to rack up wins.

I might go that route too, but with the charade removed it might be easier to take -- it'd be something like being a Milwaukee Brewers fan; follow the team casually, be excited when they do some good things but understand that no matter what eventually all of your good young talent is going to eventually end up in New York or Boston.

I couldn't do that, because there really is no point. Why root for a team if they are never given a fair shake? Root for players so they can go win a ring for LA, Miami or NY? Fuck that. That doesn't sound like a good time to me at all. If i want to watch something staged, I can just go watch pro wrestling.

It's hard to believe the Lakers turned down this trade ASSUMING Melo was willing to sign the extension. Who wouldn't trade Bynum for Carmelo Anthony? Bynum is never going to put together dominant seasons. He doesn't have that "NEED to be great" mentality. He's totally content playing 50 games year and being an 11/7 guy. He has stretches that show you what he COULD be, but he'll never sustain that. Jerry Buss turned that deal down? Why?

Yeah, at that point, what's the whole point in watching anyway? If you know it's completely rigged.

    Jeanie got the looks.

    And the brains.

    And the popularity.

    Not sure what Jim got.

A penis and control of the team.

Which is actually a good thing if you are a Blazer fan.
If anyone can fuck up a near sure thing like the Lakers is Jim Buss.

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that Bynum isn't even close to as valuable as Melo would be to the Lakers.

Its funny how everybody lashes out at Stern about everything.

Like he's running an 'evil empire' or something...

Exactly. How the fuck does this show it's rigged? Did Stern also make NY, LA and Chicago in general more desirable places to live than Portland? Did he make portland citizens fear anybody moving into their city and making it bigger? Did he create time zones so nobody on the east coast would watch our games? Gimme a fucking break. Oh, if a star player wants to play in a big city i'll stop watching. See ya. Young guys with money are drawn to the big lights of big cities. What do you expect? Stern to step in and say no player can ever leave? I know when Paul listed us as a city he was interested in, nobody seemed to pissed off about a star player wanting out potentially.
