    Apparently, according to Brian Smith,

Wonder if he'll finally step down.

from @tribjazz "Worth noting that Jazz's Kirilenko emerged from coaches' and not players' locker room. Gave no indication anything went down, though."

interesting shit. that team is pretty fucked. lost boozer, Jefferson isn't a good replacement. their record isn't too bad but clearly need some new lifeblood.

They've lost 6 of their last 10 games, and are actually pretty mediocre at home this year. I think Sloan is just tired of it.

The crazy thing is he's been coaching the Jazz for almost all my life.

Losing Sloan would be the worst possible thing for the Jazz; they'd lose their identity.

The Jazz NEED a new identity. His system has never won a title and he's had two decades to try. It's really really time to move on.

If they're trading Kirilenko, I wonder if they're considering Rip Hamilton. He'd be perfect for that system, and he's been getting shafted by that crazy ass coach in Detroit.

Yeah, those endless playoff appearances really get tiring.

I was going to link to retiresloan.com, so I checked it, and it no longer exists. It used to be full of interesting anti-Sloan articles.

I should warn, though, that Salt Lake City is a very small market barely surviving from the ABA, and with an ordinary win record, might just lose all its ticket sales.

That would be crazy to see Sloan retire. I really hope he doesn't but at the same time the Jazz would be absolutely lost without him...and that would be nice. Good post on a slow day.

Sloan was probably just pissed that all the guys O'Connor let walk/gave away came home to beat him tonight. Kevin O'Connor should get executive of the year for the excellent work he did rebuilding the Chicago Bulls.

They do if you're getting humiliated and/or swept out of them every year. The point of the playoffs is to win a championship. If 20 years of one system doesn't give you one championship, it's long overdue to try another system.

Didn't Sloan just sign a 1 year extension? I could have swore I read that the other day on the NBATV streamer.

The system is a capable system. The Jazz, like the Blazers, have a hard time bringing in the proper talent to back it up.

The Blazers once had endless playoff appearances, yet the year that matters most to fans is 1977.

Sloan was been fortunate enough to coach 2 Hall of Fame players, in their primes, and whiffed on winning a title with them. His teams with Olympians Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer also underachieved. It could be argued that Sloan undercoached those teams, at least in terms of the centerpiece players.
