"We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn't that ironic?" --Sarah Palin, admitting that her family used to get treatment in Canada's single-payer health care system, despite having demonized such government-run programs as socialized medicine that will lead to death-panel-like rationing, March 6, 2010

"Who hijacked term: 'feminist'? A cackle of rads who want 2 crucify other women w/whom they disagree on a singular issue; it's ironic (& passé)" --Sarah Palin, in a Twitter message, Aug. 18, 2010

Yes, politicians say stupid things at times.

    10. "No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something." –making an off-hand joke during an appearance on "The Tonight Show", March 19, 2009 (Obama later called the head of the Special Olympics to apologize)

    9. "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any seances." -–after saying he had spoken with all the living presidents as he prepared to take office, Washington, D.C., Nov. 7, 2008 (Obama later called Nancy Reagan to apologize)

    8. "The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system." –in remarks after a health care roundtable with physicians, nurses and health care providers, Washington, D.C., July 20, 2009

    7. "What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith..." –in an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, who jumped in to correct Obama by saying "your Christian faith," which Obama quickly clarified, Sept. 7, 2008

    6. "UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? It's the Post Office that's always having problems." –attempting to make the case for government-run healthcare, while simultaneously undercutting his own argument, Portsmouth, N.H., Aug. 11, 2009

    5. "I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." -- defending his tax plan to Joe the Plumber, who argued that Obama's policy hurts small-business owners like himself, Toledo, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2008

    4. "The Cambridge police acted stupidly." —commenting on a white police officer's arrest of black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. at his home in Cambridge, Mass., at a news conference, July 22, 2009. Obama later had to convene a "Beer Summit" at the White House to help tamp down the controversy stirred by his remark

    3. "It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." –speaking at a San Francisco fundraiser about his troubles winning over some small-town, working-class voters, April 11, 2008

    2. "One such translator was an American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world -- Navy Corpse-Man Christian Brossard." –mispronouncing "Corpsman" (the "ps" is silent) during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, Washington, D.C., Feb. 5, 2010 (The Corpsman's name is also Christopher, not Christian)

    1. "I've now been in 57 states — I think one left to go." —at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon, May 9, 2008 (Watch video)

    More fun from Obama. :)

I'm here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis." --speaking via satellite to the Democratic National Convention, while in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 25, 2008

"Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under a McCain...administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change." --Amman, Jordan, July 22, 2008

"How's it going, Sunshine?" --campaigning in Sunrise, Florida

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed." --on a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people

Personally, I try to avoid making such classifications. If my 8-year-old daughter is capable of occasionally making a salient point which causes me to reconsider a position, why should I assume that any adult isn't capable of the same?

You just validated my argument. I'm not saying that Sarah Palin is incapable of making valid points, its that I'm going to look at anything she says through the light of "she's an opportunistic idiot", and then after further reflection, if it has validity, then I'll treat it as such. Her track record ain't great, though.

I would argue that what you've posted above is a significant departure from your original post. This makes a lot more sense than where you started.

Really? I don't think that at all. I viewed the statements I referenced in my original post as the "opportunistic idiot" Palin making another base-serving set of statements that put her nose right into a foreign policy situation that didn't need her ignorant input, and in fact, could have harmed the U.S.'s handling of the situation.

You still haven't addressed what she actually said. How could it have harmed "the U.S.'s handling of the situation" if you won't even criticize what she said?

Do you just choose to ignore posts on a thread that don't conform to your argument?

If you want me to post the entire transcript of her interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network and refute her statements word-by-word, don't hold your breath. I have better things to do.

How do you know Feinstein's motivations for questioning if forcing Mubarak out without knowledge of his replacement? Also, were you this outraged during the 8 year non-stop bashing of Bush? I just find you targeting Palin for your anger odd, since she supposedly has presidential aspirations. Disagree with her opinions, sure, but your bizarre belief that she shouldn't offer her opinion on Egypt at all, and the obvious anger you displayed toward her (and not her words), are telling, Chris.

She called Rick Santorum a "knuckle-dragging neanderthal" last night. I believe this qualifies as an approvable comment.

Did you just post something that Sarah Palin said that I agree with? This makes me uncomfortable...

Admittedly an understatement. Over 300,000 people die each day, and any day spent in Kansas is a tragedy.
