Cousins kicked off of the charter for the trip to PHX last night. Not in Sacto tonight and not playing tonight. Edit - Donte, not Donae. Mods, please edit title. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6118009
I think it was pretty clear going in that he was one of those high-risk, high-reward kinds of players. Tough break for sacto.
Westphal is the problem. Even the infamous Wally Walker knew enough to replace him with Nate McMillan. As soon as they let him back in th NBA, what's he do but get rid of Sergio. Look at Westphal's arrogant lips pursed as he prances around the sideline. He looks like he hates his own players.
OK, maybe that was a bit harsh - harsh, but accurate. He completely lacks discipline. He came into the predraft camp fat and out of shape and is constantly arguing with everyone, referees, teammates, coaches, everyone. Maybe a suspension will get his attention and help him get his head on straight, but somehow, I doubt it. BNM
He was pissed that Greene didn't pass it to him at the end of the game. Instead it went to Evans for an off-balance threee and they lost. What he did was wrong, but he should have got the ball.
He didn't have post position at all. He simply was not open, and even worse, he didn't work to get open. Besides, he was 5-14 in that game, and Evans had scored 30 points on 30 points on 22 shots to go with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Cousins is a head case. Even if he should have received the ball, which is at best debatable, fighting a teammate after the game over it is just so wrong on so many different levels.
Baloney. Watch the play again. Cousins was just standing there, and not even in good post position. He wasn't on the low block.
Nice try. Way to pile on Westphal because he wasn't dumb enough to play Sergio. That's rather odd, since you're the same poster who predicted Westphal would be Sergio's Frank Layden, and under Westphal Serio would average over 1000 assists per season. In what league will that be? You do realize that Sergio is now out of the NBA and ended his 4-year, 3-team NBA career with a grand total of 839 assists, right? When can we expect to see him back in the league averaging over 1000/season? Back on topic... Cousins was a fat, undisciplined head case long before he ever met Paul Westphal. BNM
Apparently you didn't watch the game. With that in mind I've provided you with a link. http://www.nba.com/video/games/kings/2011/02/12/0021000803_okc_sac_recap.nba/index.html Please freeze the action at the 2:23 mark. You can clearly see that Cousins has his man sealed with his left shoulder. He's even more open than I remembered.
I never predicted Sergio would get 1000 assists per season. I just noted that Stockton didn't start till Year 4, so with Sergio leaving the Blazers after 3 years, Westphal would obviously be Sergio's Frank Layden. It isn't my fault that the evil Westphal fell on his face in the impersonation attempt. Note that the Kings fell apart once they got rid of Sergio. If Cousins had taken on Sergio after not passing to him, Cousins would have had to skip the plane trip anyway, due to his condition in the hospital. Also, note that the stability of the euro has improved since Sergio returned to Europe. For those of you who still haven't had your daily Sergio fix satisfied, read this. http://sportstwo.com/threads/178704-Game-Thread-Portland-Toronto?p=2535014&viewfull=1#post2535014
So where are the thanks? Besides, that was 2 weeks after I joined the board. I don't remember 16 months ago because this board has crammed so much useful knowledge into my head, that it's embarrassing to think about the former me. Good point. I never promised Boob which year Sergio (now age 24) would get 1000 assists. Also, I didn't say in which league. Get back to me in 15 years, Boob. Although at age 39, he might make a comeback, so you better wait till 25 years. (Thanks, Drexlersdad. When I was new here, I asked how to put a link into an underlined word, saw the answer, and immediately forgot in which thread it was. I see it now, 3 posts below that post Boob referenced. I wondered where that was many times since. Now I can start doing it.)
