From CBS this morning • One exec said he believes Portland GM Rich Cho is "poised for a pretty significant 24th." Given the grim prognosis for star guard Brandon Roy and the uncertainty about what cap space will be worth under the new labor rules, Cho is seriously considering cashing in on the expiring contract of Joel Przybilla and the essentially expiring deal of Andre Miller, whose 2011-12 salary is fully non-guaranteed. Marcus Camby, who has a year left at $12.9 million, could be enticing to one of the few deep-pocketed contenders not shy about taking on future money with CBA changes looming. The Mavericks, for example, will "listen to anything," according to a source. Wojnarowski: Camby & Przybilla Are "Intriguing" Trade Targets We're just eight days away from the NBA trade deadline without any concrete trade rumors involving the Portland Trail Blazers having emerged yet. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Reports that the New Orleans Hornets, Portland's opponent tonight, are looking to be active but may not have the assets to make a deal work with the Blazers... New Orleans Hornets general manager Dell Demps remains one of the most aggressive suitors on the trade market, looking to add scoring and size to his roster, sources said. Portland’s two available centers – Marcus Camby and Joel Przybilla – are intriguing to most teams searching for size, but the Hornets don’t appear to have pieces that appeal to the Blazers. Portland already has control of the Hornets’ conditional 2011 first-round pick from the Jerryd Bayless trade in October. This would be a fun sell to the fan base after the team is 7 games over 500 in the 5th seed lol. Tonights game could be the deciding point on wether we blow it up or make a run im thinking after all these rebuilding reports.
again though... trading pryz? yep. trading miller and camby i just dont see because of our depth situation.
It never ends! A- I thought the season was OVER! B- So after tonight we will either blow up the team or not huh? When I see Nate tonight pregame, should I show him this thread and let him know this?
I agree. Trade Joel. Who would you want back? Rumor is that Memphis wants to trade Thabeet. I don't like putting Joel on the Grizz, but I think I would do a deal of Marks + Joel for Haddadi + Thabeet. If Memphis wants more than salary relief then maybe throw in the lesser of the Blazer or Hornet pick. I want to keep Dre and Camby. We need LaMarcus to grow as a player and I would hate to see what happens to LaMarcus after you lose Dre. Camby is worth keeping even for next year until we see what Oden does in the final year of his rookie contract.
Depends what comes back - but I would argue that Miller is more important at this point than Camby and would be harder to replace. I really want to see a Pryzbilla/Babbit and maybe 2nd round pick for Hinrich/Hilton Armstrong kind of deal - that would be sweet. Replace Joel with another big body - which is not a good player, but at least has athletic ability - and bolster the backup PG situation. The Wiz get cap relief and a shooter prospect.
There's no way we make a trade with the Hornets to make them better. By doing so, we'd devalue the draft pick we received in the Bayless deal. Frankly, I'm fine with moving Przy, Camby and Miller. We're not winning anything this year and we're headed for a long lockout. If we get younger talent and assets in return, we'll be better prepared to truly compete after the lockout is over.
Blowin' Up was the greatest show ever!
whats alarming if you dont want the rebuild is..... you never hear rumors where the blazers improve. its always deals that have us sending out quality guys for cap relief and scrubs. thats why these rumors are likely true of blowing it up.
Not once has the messenger posted any positive quotes/articles/bullshit. The messenger usually gets shot, not because of the message but, because the crowd can't stand the messenger - the shitty message is what tips the pot.
Yea there was also a report over on hoopshype I believe that Cho was saying he thinks the Carmello deal is holding up a slew of other deals. My guess is he wouldn't be saying that unless he was involved in one of those deals.
I would think either that, or just involved with teams/pieces that will potentially be involved in a Carmelo deal. Like, as an example, he has a deal in place for...Devin Harris. But NJ won't say yes until it knows it can not get Carmelo. So though a deal he might have doesn't directly involve Carmelo, any team with a chance at him isn't going to deal until something happens with him first.
I think the team everybody is overlooking here is Houston. Houston has the pieces to pick him up, they have expiring contracts (Yao), and they have extraneous depth at certain positions with players unhappy. They also have a history of not beign afraid to make a trade within conference.
Other young players I wouldn't mind picking up are Paul George and Larry Sanders. If Joel is traded, it is well known he wants to go to Milwaukee to finish his career. Sanders plays for Milaukee but the salary won't work. And unfortunately the Pacers probably don't want to part with Paul George.
I would assume we have no chance at George. I just don't see us as good trade partners with indiana. I wouldn't mind a look at Sanders. I think taking on salary for Joel might get us Sanders, but who knows. I imagine they'd throw him and a pick in to get out of Gooden's 5 year deal. Or even the remaining two on Maggette's. Joel and Babbitt for Sanders, Maggette and their 2012 1st?
