filename: 89-90 season gamertag: portlandblazer this roster took a damn long time to finish. i originally chose to do the 90 season because of the fact that the pistons, bulls, hawks and cavs were already complete and the 92 blazers, 91 lakers and 86 celtics had pretty much the same core players so i had a good head start but it still seemed to have taken forever. anyway heres some things of note. i was torn over whether to use the current blazers since they have the correct retros or the 92 blazers since they have the correct shorts length and court design. i ultimately went with the 92 blazers slot. i created a separate sonics, nets and bullets team, you can use which ever you want, they are identical other than the unis. the sonics unis look real nice, just like i did on 2k10, bullets are ok and i threw the nets on there last minute, at least the uni color matches the old school nets. i usually throw in the all star teams for these season rosters but it doesnt allow you to pluck players off of the retro teams when creating a team. basically i was too lazy to trade all the players to current teams, and then trade back and redo all the rotations again. i think the roster itself should keep you occupied enough. i found a workaround to those horrible nicknames on created players. i used the same glitch i use for renaming players and edited the nickname "dimes" and then gave that nickname to most of the caps so you wont hear "the bodyguard passes it to miracle man, stolen by mr. fundamentals!" instead the commentators mostly say nothing and occasionally will say "number 33" as for the re-named players im really satisfied with the choices i made. most players have similar skin tones and hairstyle/color. im really disappointed though in the fact that a few random names in the database were lost, some of them very significant. barkley and miller are the biggest. davis, cooper and morris to name a few others. the strange thing is i didnt rename any players with these names. i found out way too late in the process that this happened and didnt even think to check because this didnt happen in 2k10. not a deal breaker by any means but its kinda lame that reggie miller is now "number 31" and chuck is "number 34". the only way i could check for something like this would be to play a game with every team and score with every player after every single rename i do (i think i did over 70). i was able to determine that changing daniel orton to randy white was what caused the name davis to disappear, i have no idea the correlation or why, so that tells you how random it is. theres also a few other strange occurrences with commentating where a renamed player will occasionally be called by their original name and sometimes random players will be sometimes called by their name and sometimes by number, hersey hawkins i noticed in the same game called hawkins and number 33. overall most names are in the database and this is one minor flaw in what i think is possibly my best roster to date. i decided to just fill out the current teams that werent in use with all the top rated players so if you take this roster into association or season mode you wont have stars signing to random teams and ruining the retro experience. just make sure to customize the league properly. i also edited down the remaining players and the free agent list has a nice list of edited players with generic-ish names. it wouldnt let me upload the file to 2kshare without changing vinny del negro so after you download it add the "o" on the "negr" ive been using default sliders/allstar/simulation, the game is playing good to me, even better today after the patch. if anyone has any suggestions for sliders or tweeks that need to be made to the roster, feedback etc... appreciate it. i have been having a blast playing with this the last few days. i made some nice playlists using rubens custom music to help the late 80s early 90s atmosphere. i added a few songs of my own and am continuing to add more here and there. i love the player of the game highlights, i usually re-play it 4 or 5 times lol. i just set my 1990 playlists up to "all arenas" each time i pop in the game and dont save my profile to avoid having to redo my current nba playlists. no decision yet on what i will do next as far as rosters. i am contemplating jumping ahead to 99-00, maybe ill do some years in between after that but for right now im gonna take a break for maybe a few weeks and might start an 89-90 season or association, i havent really played association for real since 2k8. ok, this post is long enough, go get it, enjoy!
just completed a 99-00 roster filename: 99-00 season gamertag: portlandblazer season summary:http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2000.html the sonics are the 96 sonics from the jordan teams and the jazz are the 98 jazz. i created a separate bucks and nuggets to more closely resemble the uniform color schemes they had back then. i filled up the remainder of jordan teams with the highest rated players from the current nba not used in this roster so i wouldnt have to edit down so many players. the free agent list has jordan and drexler and a few others so if you dont want those guys getting picked up by other teams in your association i suggest placing them on an unused team prior to starting your association or season mode. make sure to choose customize league and replace the thunder and current jazz (and bucks and nuggets if you wish) also hornets should be in the east so you can swap them with the bobcats. it wouldnt let me upload the file with del negro and dickerson so you may want to fix those names. if youre wondering about the edited names of current players please read the 89-90 thread where i explain the glitch in detail. i was able to fill out most rosters with 13 to 15 guys so damn near every player that played in the nba in 99-00 is included with the exception of guys that were waived in the first month or played less than 10 games. this should be nice in association mode if you play with injuries on. in my 89-90 roster one of the casualties of the renaming glitch was a few star players losing their announced names, like barkley and miller. fortunately this time around only a few were lost, most notably was mourning, a few others were grant and hunter but for the most part everyone has their name pronounced rather than their number. you will run into some strange stuff occasionally with the renamed players such as darrick martin being called felton or doris burke going into a story about a current player who has been renamed. if your interested in some songs i have been using for this roster and my 89-90 roster heres a couple links. http://www.zshare.net/download/85416708121f1cea/ http://www.zshare.net/download/85417583dd176784/ i included my playlists in the downloads but im not sure it will translate to someone elses cpu so please let me know if i need to post a notepad or spreadsheet with what songs go where etc... you will need to have rubens "option #1" from the custom music thread @operationsports to go with both of these. im not sure all the songs were actually played in arenas in 89-90 and 99-00 but i mainly just wanted to help bring out nostalgia and bring you back to 1990 or 2000. i originally wanted to do a bunch more stuff with the custom music but unfortunately theres just way too many problems with the feature so i settled on tipoff, halftime, long and player of the game and left the home and away up and chants to the default game sounds. theyre acceptable for the most part but during timouts hearing the 2k default music just doesnt work for me. for halftime playlist i use the cbs theme for the 89-90 and nbc for the 99-00. this roster was a lot of fun to create and i been having a blast playing with it the last couple days. as always im open to any suggestions or criticism etc...so let me know if you find anything odd or whatever. next up will be an 84-85 roster. its taken me 3 and a half months to complete 2 complete rosters and the mj teams so who knows how many more of these i will be able to do before 2k12 comes out. ok, it feels like im forgetting something but im tired of typing and youre probably tired of reading...does anybody actually read posts this long?
84-85 season complete! season summary http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_1985.html up on 2kshare now will have to upload the transfer kit file later as im having issues at the moment with my transfer kit. heres a link for non-live/non transfer kit users http://www.mediafire.com/?9yc1mktn156mj87 i spent a great deal of time making sure the renaming glitch didnt result in the loss of any star players. after first go around i lost the names barkley, julius erving and smith so i had to go through one by one after editing names and find the culprits and it took forever so barkley and erving and smith are all still in the database and for the most part everyone has there name said by the announcers with the exceptions of green and kellogg, not sure if it was in the database to begin with but i would assume it was considering he is the color commentator. all you would expect from one of my rosters is included, created nets and sonics teams and all star teams. at least 12 men per team, i tried to include every player that i could so if you wish to take this roster into a season mode you have a usable player or two on the injured list but back then teams were cheap and only carried 12 guys. i used the retro teams where i could to try and include the short shorts where possible and filled out unused teams with either stars to deplete the free agent list or scrubs so that if taken into association mode the 7 teams like miami and toronto wont make an impact. 86 bulls (85 unis not available) 86 celtics 90 hawks 90 cavs (unis not in game anymore) 90 pistons 91 lakers 95 knicks 96 sonics or created sonics 76ers retro 4 away (home not in game, current home is closest) bucks retro 2 clippers (not in game, retro 2 alt away - retro 2 home is closest) jazz retro 1 kings retro 1 away (home not in game, retro 1 away works for both) mavs (not in game, retro 1 is closest) nets or created nets nuggets retro 1 pacers retro 1 away (home not in game, retro 3 works) rockets retro 1 spurs (not in game, current away - current or retro home) suns retro 1 blazers (away not in game, secondary away is closest) - retro 1 home warriors (not in game, retro 1, 3 or 5) wizards - bullets retro 1 hopefully hookupguy (operationsports.com) can work some magic on this roster as he did with my 2000 roster. i asked him if he could fiddle around with som of the jersey combinations and give the bulls the correct away unis with the cursive font and a few other things. i also put together another custom music set to go with this roster with a bunch of music from early 85 and prior to help set the mood so to speak. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y3A4GZ4G once again you will need the first option pack from reubens music thread (operationsports.com) and the other two music packs from the 99-00 thread to get the playlists to look like mine. 87 will probably be next so enjoy, thanks for the support.
86-87 roster done 2kshare: 86-87 season gamertag: PORTLANDBLAZER z36: http://www.zshare.net/download/876431794e3c4fbb/ bin: 86-87 season 2k11 - 62.12MB i will be doing a 96 roster next and have been proposed some money to do a 2005 roster after that, not sure i will do it yet but thought i would share what my plans are in the coming weeks. heres the league info for that season http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_1987.html teams used 86 bulls 86 celtics 90 hawks 90 cavs 90 pistons 91 lakers 95 knicks 96 sonics or created sonics nets are a created team only, took out current nets to free up extra cap slots 76ers retro 4 away (home not in game, current home is closest) bucks retro 2 is close clippers (not in game, retro 2 is closest) jazz retro 1 kings retro 1 away (home not in game, retro 1 away works for both) mavs (not in game, retro 1 is closest) nuggets retro 1 pacers retro 1 away (home not in game, retro 3 works) rockets retro 1 spurs (not in game, current away - current or retro home) suns retro 1 blazers retro 1 warriors (not in game, retro 1, 3 or 5) wizards - bullets retro 1 some players who were injured for the majority of the season are on the injured list such as jeff ruland, sam bowie, calvin natt, marques johnson to name a few so just a heads up to anyone playing season mode. the free agent list is legit with a ton of players leftover from my 85 roster. unfortunately mullin and cheeks were lost in the name database but for the most part the rest of the names are good. occasionally oakley, parish and doc rivers are called by number but it also calls them by name so i dont know whats up with that. 86-87 c.a.m.rar - 103.87MB heres ^ some songs for custom arena music im using. i just took my 1985 playlists, took out a handfull of songs here and there and added these to create 1987 playlists. you will need my 85 music set and reubens option 1 set from the custom arena music thread @operationsports. if anyone wants me to i can post exactly what my 87 playlists look like. i made it pretty easy to figure out, the songs labeled (reverb) are for "long" or "tipoff" playlists and (potg) is for player of the game. im using the nba on cbs theme for halftime and long for tipoff since tipoff plays for like 5 seconds. i also shortened up the songs so it doesnt take a week to download, i should have made the 85 set more user friendly.
