Adding Camby and Roy will improve our bench more than any trade available. We had a similar situation last season. We got Camby at the deadline and Roy came back (although he hadn't been out as long) from injury after the all-star break and the team won 18 of their last 25 games. When we get those two back, suddenly our bench doesn't look so bad. Roy may not be the Roy of old, but he should still make a very good 6th man (better than anyone we have coming off the bench now), and Camby helps address our lack of size/rebounding.

I'm not saying we shouldn't make a deal, but I don't think we "need" to make one and I would not make a trade that hurts our team short term unless we get a known quantity (proven young to mid-career player that addresses a need) in return. I'm not interested in "potential" or "upside". All young players have that, but few live up to it. I don't want some guy who has kicked around the league for three or four years and failed to make any kind of impact or shown steady improvement - especially if he has a reputation as a head case or uncoachable malcontent.

I prefer winning over losing. I'd rather be old and good than young and shitty. There is no need to panic. We're on pace to win 50 games, and we've gotten there without Oden, without Roy and without Camby (recently). Even with our lack of depth and shitty bench, this team has been 11 games over 0.500 since Roy went down (10 - 13 at the time, 32 - 24 now) and 7 games over 0.500 (20 - 19 then, 32 - 24 now) in the month since Camby went down. This team has shown remarkable improvement, is currently the 5th seed in the West, and getting Roy and Camby back will help them make a solid stretch run. To me, getting those two back now, and Oden back next season/after the lockout, helps this team more than most trades they could realistically make.

agreed with everything you said BNM except that Roy should make very good 6th man. Given the questions about his physical state, I don't think we can assume much of anything about his ability to contribute. Dude might be good as a 6th man, he might not be able to keep up at all, & he might suffer another setback and be shelved again.

I'm glad Rudy is still on board and playing as well as he has
