If true, it would be Murphy for Biedrins. That would be a ridiculous deal. Biedrins just needs a change of scenery and a free throw shooting coach.
To be honest, that sounds like a pipe dream. And Berger has a history of throwin shit in the air and hoping something sticks. (same with the guys on 95.5)
I had been hoping when I heard about Murphy that we would turn around and look to possibly move him right away, take on long term salary for an improvement somewhere. Harris/Matthews/Batum/Aldridge/Camby with Rudy/Roy/Cunningham/Biedrins off the bench is a solid 9 man rotation the rest of the way. Of course, it's also adding two more guys, in Biedrins and Harris, who have had injury histories. So no surprises when we end up with a similar story line next season, but I still like it if it could happen.
Another injury riddled big. I don't think we'll be finished untill we get trade for bynum, sign oden to a long term deal. S&T for Yao, and bring Shaq over while still having Biedrins on the team just so we can have an actual center start for us everygame. We would only have access to 1 every game though, every other one would be sitting with an injury.
I just saw that Biedrins had 3 years, and $27mil after this season. With his and our history of injuries, that's just a mistake waiting to happen.
Cho is including GO in this deal, apparently. LOL. http://www.northjersey.com/sports/p...022111_Nets_up_ante_in_quest_for_Anthony.html
This time of year is ridiculous for rumors. I just heard Quick trying to bring Oden into the discussion by saying his "Salary" fits perfect for this trade. The whole interview he was quoting "Agents" as his source. Since when are agents in on the phone calls with the GM's?
The reaction on this board to that deal would be like Mardi Gras in internet land. The drinking, the gibberish, the over-the-top positions being taken by the Pro-GOs and the Pro-Chos, with the interesting side story of the anti-GOs and the anti-Chos trying to find their voice and make sense of it all. Please, Cho, do it for my own enjoyment!
It's only Quick trying to piece it together by looking at what salary would fit to make up the difference (Oden's). I can't believe that the Blazers would throw in Oden to make salaries match and give up on hime at this point. We're too far along to just use him as a "throw in" to match salaries.
I'd be really surprised if Oden were being included in the trade, but I suppose it could happen if the pick was the Nets own first rounder and it was unprotected. The Nets are likely going to end up near the very bottom of the standings, meaning they'll have a good shot at picking 1st or 2nd. Assuming the Blazers want to convert Aldridge to their center of the future and are looking for a dominant PF to put next to him...maybe. It's a shallow draft and I'm not really up to speed as to who the best players are, but I guess I could see it happening. More likely, I think, is that the Blazers are looking to bring in a third team to absorb Murphy's contract. I hear that the Warriors like him and want him back. Something involving Gadzuric and another player or two could be made to work.
If it's their pick that eventually goes unprotected (and doesn't turn into second rounders like the New Orleans pick) I think you do it.
NJ will likely be 5th-8th in the draft. I could see a Top 3 protected pick being a reasonable value if GO is included. The problem is that this draft is heavy in PF/SF hybrids, and the one true PF/C that would be availble (Sullinger will be #1 or #2 pick, IMO), Enes Kanter, has a history of knee problems, which should make him undraftable for Portland. I'd rather roll the dice on GO, because nothing available in this weak draft is an upgrade over Oden. May as well stick it out with him.
Yeah, I agree with all of that. Like I said, I don't think there's much chance GO is included in the deal, at least as we've heard it discussed. Bringing in a third team and other players could change things.
IMO the chance of this happening is zero. I don't see how you bring in a 3rd team to get involved with Murphy. What GM are you going to sell that song and dance to?
