http://twitter.com/ChrisMannixSI/statuses/40482785995005952 Sources say Portland is pushing Greg Oden in trade talks. Oden's injury history, predictably, has GM's reluctant.
Boooooo! Although, I guess I should wait to hear what we're allegedly pushing him for before I boo too loudly.
It's a good move IMO. IMO the team needs to move Oden and Roy's contracts before they become the albatross we cannot remove from around the teams neck.
"Hey, we just traded Oden." "Terrible trade. What did we get?" To invert the old Lenny Dykstra moment.
Cho better get something special.... I'll be really pissed if we get a nobody washed up player or a pick. Even Bowie got us Buck Williams and a chance to improve.
Roy will be a Blazer for 4 more years. No team will trade for him with no insurance policy in place. Oden will cost us nothing or pro rate of the lockout shortened 8.8 million. He can still be traded next year by the deadline.
Chad Ford says we're "quietly shopping Oden" over on his ESPN chat. If we trade Oden for garbage, I'll quietly not renew my season tickets
Shopping and trading are two different things. I am sure he is shopping everyone except possibly LMA. What else do GM's do all day? They gadge to see the interest level for every player they have.
evin (Portland) Any moves left for the Blazers to make? Chad Ford (1:54 PM) They're talking. Andre Miller is out there. Joel Przybilla too. They've also, as we've talked about for the past month, been quietly shopping Greg Oden. Devin Harris was their top target and now he's off the table. Not sure where they turn
Really? You were really determining your whole season ticket purchase over Greg Oden. You really know how to set yourself up for success I see.
It doesn't mean you shouldn't try. All we need is one GM willing to roll the dice and take a huge risk because their job is probably on the line anyhow. I could care less what Oden's contract costs. Every dollar we are spending on his roster spot is a waste IMO. I would be more than happy to be wrong, but I feel that is the case here. It's time to move on.
Perhaps it is a character flaw, but yeah, I really wouldn't renew if Oden was gone. He's my favorite player and gives us a chance (even a slim one) to contend if healthy.
I'm not really against this. He can't(and most likely won't) stay healthy and you don't know if he even wants to be here anymore. If you can get a good deal, go for it.
Never has a player who produced so little had such ardant and disproportional fan support. You've been paying for season tickets without Oden playing for some time now, but you'll give up on the team if they trade him?
