We could sure use another big now....we might as well go after Murphy. Anyone know how the waivers process works? How does a team claim a guy off waivers?
Once a player is waived, teams under the cap have 48 hours to claim him. If no team claims him, he clears waivers and is free to sign with any team that has cap space or an exception.
Why does he choose us over Boston/Miami/Orlando etc. He wants to win a ring and he's not doing it here.
This is what I found on waivers- Bought-out players are placed on waivers, and it takes 48 hours to clear waivers. During the waiver period, any team may claim a waived player. If more than one team tries to claim the player, the team with the worst record gets him. If a player on waivers is claimed, the new team acquires his existing contract and pays the remainder of his salary.
If the Rich are getting richer then why are so many teams wanting to get rid of Murphy in the first place besides salary. It is one thing to dump a player because of salary if they totally suck ass. But it is another to dump a player who is actually decent who gets overpaid. It seemed to me that the last few teams to have Murphy on them, have been all too willing to get rid of that guy at all cost at a certain point.
Actually, most of what I've read is that Avery Johnson simply wouldn't play him. He claimed Murphy wasn't healthy and then that he wasn't in shape. Murphy MAY have been dragging his heels, but I find it more likely AJ doesn't know how to handle some players. Ed O.
