When all this pesky trade stuff was going down he was out buying a puppy. But he said he is going to name it Crash in honor of Wallace.
I think Quick is burned out and needs to step down as the Blazer Beat Reporter for the Oregonian. He's been mailing it in since KP was traded. He even said he hates this time of the season because it's so much work keeping up with all the trade rumors.
I'm not sure how you can tell the difference between some stupid random idiot who knows nothing and says a lot of shit, and a fan that calls into the show saying that.
His feels energy for rumors that emanate from him, not from others. Don't want to take up your time, just let me punch you hard in the arm for that, no problem, only once will do and it'll be forgotten.
I think being a beat writer takes energy and enthusiasm, because the travel and the day to day writing about how the team is playing must get really old. I think Quick is burned out on the job and going through the motions. If you read his feature pieces, you see that's where his heart is. Also, in the PatterNash days, he burned a LOT of bridges with the organization. They'll talk to him, but he's always getting outscooped. I thought the last two beat writers for The Columbian (IIRC Brian Hendrickson and Brian T. Smith) were both superior to Quick. I don't think Quick is bad at his job; he's just been there too long.
You fit 3 theories into a short post. 1. He's tired. New blood is needed. 2. The organization shuns him compared to his competitors. 3. This isn't new. He always was untalented. BlazerProphet: 4. He's lazy. Mine: 5. He's just evil and hateful. Who is right?
