I missed a bit of it, but Rome asked some good questions and spoke very highly of Nate at the end. They touched on his contract situation, and Nate said all the right things. I think we need to get this guy resigned before he goes elsewhere.

    Nate McMillan on Jim Rome

Did anyone else catch Nate McMillan's interview on Jim Rome this morning. When asked if all the injuries over the past few years have made him consider looking at east coast or perhaps california coaching jobs when his contract is up, he played it safe and said he can only focus on the team this year, and that the contract will take care of itself. What does that mean to you? He didn't say anything about being happy coaching the Blazer's, which could have made me think he wants to stay. I think his interview shows he wants to look at his options when the contract is up and if thier is something better out there he is going to take it.

Re: Nate McMillan on Jim Rome

It means that he is not sure if the team wants him back as he was not given an extension this summer - and is keeping his options open. I suspect that the Blazers will not be stupid and will offer him an extension - and hopefully he takes it.

Isn't that how any expiring contract situation works?

Nate is all class. He also is not going to beg for an extension on the radio. He said he was not worried about it and was not thinking about it. I think they are both happy just to see how things go this season. Nate knows he will be in high demand.

Both could do much worse if they went separate ways.
