They just wanted to get Martell's contract off the books. And I think getting rid of him helped is in our offer for Matthews?

But yeah, this Luke Babbit kid does not look like a good prospect. I'd expect someone at #16 to at least be a decent bench player.

I always thought it was to make room for Matthews.

how can anyone claim Elliot Williams will be out of the league in 3 years when he hasn't even shown any evidence either way yet?

Let's wait till the guy plays before we dog pile on him.

Seriously. And Armon really wasn't any worse than Patty has been.

yea he was overall. but he also lacks mills' confidence and experience so it's hard to tell what his ceiling really is.

I have heard over and over again that Babbit kills it in practice but shouldn't some glimmer of that show up on the court.

I keep hoping to see it but I never do.

Last night was just another disappointing performance for Babbit's rookie season.

Perhaps he will work his ass off with Bill Bayno in the off season to improve some of what he lacks?
Since he is under contract for at least 2 more years you might as well hope for improvement instead of assuming he will suck forever.

After all, JJ Redick was absolute shit his first year and he has turned himself into a serviceable (though certainly not star level) player.
    That's probably Babbit's ceiling.
    A 6'10" JJ Redick.
Portland could (and has) do much worse then that.

No, he got pulled from the rotation because he started calling his own number and running into triple teams. Lack of confidence is not an issue for Armon.

 The guy is barely old enough to drink legally, hasn't played a single NBA game, and already has 2 bum knees. The deck is stacked against him and then some.

Speaking of pre-draft medical red flags was Elliot the player "dangerous" to draft?

I still have a glimmer of hope that Armon might turn out to be something, but frankly there was some decent evidence that last year's draft was going to be pretty mediocre (though it was thought to be deep for some reason) I still have trouble trying to figure out what KP was actually thinking by adding three youngsters to the lineup, except as a money saving move (or maybe he really was laying down a big "eff U" to Paul for canning him?).

Oh well, let's just hope Cho can remedy the situation.

But WHY has he only played 38 minutes? Until now, outside of Batum, he's been our only other pure SF on the roster. The minutes were there for him. He just wasn't good enough to claim them.

Don't be dissing Elliot Williams yet, though, guys. He was throwing down some wicked dunks at Fan Fest. Let's let him get healthy before calling him a bust.

He's not a pure 3, though. He's a 3/4 hybrid... perhaps in a bad way, of course, but he isn't quick enough to guard many small forwards.

Yeah... I think that counting him out already is premature.

This is a ridiculous statement in my opinion. Babbit's on a 3 year rookie contract. There is no way that the Blazers cut him outright. Could they trade him, sure, but if Babbitt's so bad, why would anyone want him? If he's traded it's because he is a throw-in. I doubt both Patty and Johnson are both gone. Nate seems to like 3 PG's on his team. Neither are under contract for next season, but odds are at least one of Patty or Armon are on the team next season as the 3rd PG in my opinion. The odds that none of the three are on the team next season if there is a season is less than 10% . The only way I see it happening is if 2 new PG prospects are added to the team, maybe TJ Ford and Petteri Koponen or Petteri and a rookie PG and Babbit is traded. If you are banking on this Mixum, prepare to be disappointed.
