I see that the Rockets waived Jeffries. It sounds like he'll probably end up back with the Knicks, but I could see him as a viable option for one of our open spots.
Jeffries doesn't do anything above average, and does a whole bunch of things that are below average. I'd rather give Babbitt minutes over Jeffries.
Jeffries will not make it to us. Otherwise I would say absolutely get him off waivers. 6'11 240 with skill. What's not to like? Who else can we get better?
What skill? The guy is a career 9.8 PER player. He can't shoot, he can't rebound, he can't shoot FTs, he can't defend, and he can't pass. Plus, he may be one of the most least effecient offensive players of the last 10 years.
Okay, I know with defense there's no simple # that you can run to. But, Jeffries has been a solid defender throughout his career. You should watch him a couple times before you make stuff up
I will admit I have not watched him lately. And when he played well for Washington it was a long time ago. (5 years) but at that time he was a very good defender. (So good NY signed him over trading for Miles-which fucked us) Maybe the injuries have taken a toll on him, but I still don't think we can do better from the D league.
I disagree, and the fact that Houston waived him after losing a legit SF defender (Battier) tells me all I need to know about Jeffries. If Jeffries is such a great defender, why did Houston dump him for nothing?
Here's some reading material: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/sports/basketball/17knicks.html http://www.fromthebaseline.com/home-mainmenu-1/blogs/3519-what-jeffries-brings-to-the-table-knicks-3-2-zone-defense http://bleacherreport.com/articles/116309-a-case-for-jared-jeffries-as-the-best-defender-in-the-nba You can disagree all you want, but you're wrong. Jeffries has been a solid defender throughout his career. Its the fact that he doesn't do much of anything else is why he was bought out.
I don't think he defends well these days, either. He's a shit player who has played for shit teams throughout his career.
Jeffries isn't a center, though. I don't even consider him a 4. I just don't think he'll end up in Portland, and I don't want him to end up in Portland. Gerald Wallace is a better PF than Jeffries, IMO.
Yeah Jeffries is one of those guys that was supposed to be a big SF and he turned into a PF cause he wasn't good enough. That's why he has the "skilled" reputation even though he's really not.
