The Green Bay Blizzard and Head Coach Rik Richards are proud to announce the 2011 Green Bay Blizzard Roster. The Blizzard roster for 2011 is loaded with talent, including some familiar faces, willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the next level and bring a championship to Green Bay along the way.

Key defensive veterans back for 2011 are Adrian McLeod (LB), All-American from Western Carolina, and Greg Jackson (LB) Defensive Player of the Year at Memphis University to try and fill the void left by Maurice Simpkins who has signed a 2 year deal with the St. Louis Rams. Helping to solidify the defense is James McClinton (DL), a Big 12 Defensive Player of the year from the University of Kansas, and B.J. Hill (DB), All-American defensive back from Ball State.

Key offensive veterans returning for 2011 starts with Quarterback Willie Copeland, an All American from Valdosta St. The job of keeping Copeland upright is Offensive Lineman Ryan Mueller out of St. Norbert College. Rounding out the offense is Scott Burnoski (WR) from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Several new players to keep an eye out for as the season gets started are 5th round draft pick AJ Nicholson (LB) from Florida St. and the Cincinnati Bengals, John Jacobs (LB) from Saginaw Valley St. and the Detroit Lions, and Daniel Holtzclaw (OL) from Eastern Michigan and the Detroit Lions.

Coach Richards said that "If we would have gotten all veteran players we would have started fast, leveled off and would not have been playing our best football when it mattered. The group of guys we have assembled has endless potential and upside and because of their willingness to learn and work hard, we will be in a great position later in the season when it matters the most."

The Green Bay Blizzard will open their season in Bloomington Illinois, as they take on the Bloomington Extreme, Saturday March 5th at 7:00pm. The Extreme opened their season this past weekend as they hosted the Richmond Revolution. Bloomington Extreme started off the 2011 season in a dominating fashion by jumping out to a 31-0 halftime lead. The defense didn't let up in the second half and went on to hold the Richmond Revolution to just six points in the game and won 44-6 in front of a crowd of 4,413 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Sunday in Bloomington.
