Just a thread to appreciate our journey this year, as no one expected us to make the Finals. In the end we didn't win, but you can't take away our first Finals appearance since the franchise was created. Also, the special moments throughout the year that shaped the inevitable run to the Finals. So every Mavs fans share your favorite moment from the past year, and prepare for next season as were still young, and despite people already saying our window is closed like always, anything can happen especially when we can only improve and bring much needed experience to next season. Here's to the 2005-2006 Dallas Mavericks, and thanks for the great season. F*ck you bandwagoners.
Yes, congrats to the mavs on a succesful playoff run that wasnt short of complaining or making excuses. From the "Bear Hug Defense" bull crap that avery Johnson said after game 1 against the Spurs, to Mark Cuban screaming at David Stern after game 5 of the finals saying that his "League is rigged." I personally think the mavs got what they deserved. Miami played basketball and didnt complain about the officiating they just made adjustments and came out winners. Also one more thing, Dallas fans booing David Stern during the trophy presentation was very classless and showed what kind of people most mavs fans are.
Hey moron, as a Spurs fan you have no right to talk. If I had a dime for every time Duncan throws his hands in the air in disgust at a foul call, I would be a millionaire. And Spurs fans are no better for cursing at Cuban's pregnant wife. I can't believe you're talking trash about Avery, the man who won you a freaking championship. Get out of this thread, please.Anyway, back to what this thread is really about. Mavs greatness. I think the heart shown by these guys is incredible. I remember when we lost Nash, I thought this franchise was screwed, honestly. Look how far we've come. A lot of it goes to Jason Terry. The guy has been clutch since he got here, especially during the playoffs. I hope we can get him back. Marquis was amazing tonight, and I wish he had gotten played more frequently. Josh Howard, man, what can I say that hasn't been said before. The Mavs are incredibly lucky to have a guy like him. Even though he might have blown that timeout the other day, it really didn't matter as much as people imagine. Most of my moments come from these playoffs, since that's what I've seen the most of, sadly. No, I'm not a bandwagoner, but they mostly show Rockets games where I live. Dirk's three on the Grizz comes to mind, along with his and 1 against the Spurs. I also loved the first game of the year against the Suns, that was awesome.

Avery has preached all year for us to not complain and make excuses throughout the year when we fought through injuries and played without key players. And to note Avery's bear hug defense was a joke, and Cuban's comments at Stern are not true. Do you just take everything that's said as fact and serious? OMG fans of the other team booed the trophy ceremony. What do you expect the crowd to cheer them after eliminating their team. And to conclude with what Justice already said, this is coming from a Spurs fan whose team fans have whined so much over the past years, it's a joke that your commenting about other team's fans complaints. How about you as a fan, show some respect like your franchise player Tim Duncan did, and actually give Mavs credit for making it to the Finals instead of whining.
I have tremendous respect for Avery except for the bear hug defense comment. I also respect Mark Cuban for applauding the Miami Heat last night he finally showed some class. Also, I didnt expect Mavs fans to boo during the trophy presentation because I thought they were better than that. I thought this because when the spurs won the championship in NEW YORK, the booing capital of the world (Second to Philadelphia) and they did not even boo the spurs. Also, by whining I am referring to the comments made in the press conferences, because every player whines to the refs on the court. Also Rok the Mavs do deserve credit for a good year, they did win the WC championship.
Mavs fans were booing when Stern was talking but were quiet when the Heat players were talking. Anyways glad the mavs beat the spurs.
The Mavs got a little help from the officials in game 4 against the spurs (Duncan getting called for his 6th foul when dirk slipped) but thats ok the spurs are still 3-0 when they go to the NBA finals.
The Mavs fans cheered for the Heat, so whatever. I don't like Stern for various reasons, so I would've booed him too. (And I don't think there's a conspiracy.)My favorite moment... hm, what about when we beat the crap out of Detroit and San Antone in the regular season? Wasn't that in the same week or something?
I gotta say, I am really proud of this team. I never really expected this. I knew how Avery got his players to believe in it and I did too to an extent. I knew in my mind that they would make it, but until that final buzzer sounded in Phoenix and the Mavs started celebrating in the locker room, thats when it came true. It was the best season as a Mavs fan, this team went through so much and still came out on top of the West to have a chance to win the title. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Mavs fans cheered for the Heat, so whatever. Give me a break, that and all those suspensions, not just from the Mavs but from other players like Artest (I dont believe that warranted a suspension).Anyway, the list goes on. Although it did bring a smile to my face the way they were booing him.
If Mavs fans had seen their team lose in five, they would not have been booing (same with Heat fans). They would not have been booing if they didn't think the calls were crappy or if David Stern had not shown up. Pretty simple. There's nothing wrong with that. They didn't boo the Heat and there were times when Wade was cheered for.
My fave moment was beating San Antonio in Game 7...beating Miami by 36 during the reg. season means so much more now, too lol
Some pics to enjoy, Dirk shaved his head for those who don't know. Funny thing about these pics, all 3 seen with Dirk are free agents. I expect all 3 to be back though.
I met Dirk one time a few years ago (2003?) after a preseason game against the Bucks. It was funny because my friend got his cell phone signed I think (Don't ask me why), and it had all kinds of lights and stuff on it and Dirk said it was cool. Haha, random story I had to share.I got my picture taken with him, but it's pretty awkward/bad. I need to find the pic of me with Cuban, it's not as weird.
