College is serious business. Seriously, these asshole professors think they're god, but in reality they're a bunch of god-complex napoleons who barely know more than the students they teach. They stay one chapter ahead of the class. Teachers are a sham. I learned more in eight years in the private sector than I have learned in three years of college, but I have to have that piece of paper that says I'm smart. Fuck the education system.
Is this for real? How do we know? It's written by Art Robinson. I'd like to hear the school's side of the story. I see this from time to time with at the university. A student will be expelled for academic dishonesty and the parent's will step in and say the professor is being unfair or whatever.
Me too, because from what I read, we have a fairly obvious case of academic fraud, at the very least, for the project that Joshua Robinson initiated and advanced. Somebody at OS should address this, because it is gaining legs, and letting one side control the public debate isn't going to help OS or their academic integrity.
Why hasn't he got a lawyer and taken this to court? If this has been happening since November it seems like seeking legal advice would be the obvious answer.
Let's say it's true, and all this was happening behind closed doors. How hard would it be to actually prove what he's claiming? Sounds like a lot of he said/she said stuff.
Seems that way to me as well. I don't know why he'd make it up, though. It would only serve to kill the academic reputations of his kids. What I found odd is that OS has non-Ph. Ds. running the department.
Well it's already "he said/she said". Art Robinson makes some bold accusations: He can be sued for libel for these accusations if they are unfounded. I think he should get a lawyer and go that route.
I think he wants to be sued, and that way he and the lawyers he hires can get their hands on everything associated with this via the discovery process. Maybe that's his plan? He put out some rather specific details in his article; I assume that there is a reason for it.
Art Robinson is a serious whackadoodle. Probably a good bet the kids are too. Should be highly amusing to see where this story goes from here. barfo
Well here is OSU's "defense," but without presenting information (hiding under the "we can't" clause), it seems like a tawdry attempt to close ranks. http://oregonstate.edu/ua/ncs/archi...garding-recent-internet-postings-art-robinson
They aren't "hiding under" that. It's the law. They aren't allowed to. It would be a rather poor response to reveal confidential information in an effort to defend themselves. barfo
It would be hard to believe that all his 3 kids would be tossed at the same time- I usually don't buy into such coincidence. As to OSU's statement, they'd be stupid to discuss the case even if they could. Lastly, Oregon is pretty much agreed upon as a liberal state with zero tolerance for conservative politics or people and retribution for conservative political views and even violence are certainly not unheard of. I'd like to know how this storu progresses and if we ever get the true poop.
I think you must have misread that. I don't see anything that suggests that any faculty member doesn't have a PhD, and a check of their web page confirms that they all do, assuming it is up to date. barfo
Sorry, that was meant to be a bit of sarcasm, for - you are quite right - federal law prohibits such things. The internet is not a great place for subtlety and I forget that sometimes.
Well, even old Art says only 2 of the three are being tossed. And (if they are in fact being tossed) it is not inconceivable that they jointly chose some course of action which caused it. barfo
