I'm ambivalent. I have no idea "what else is out there." I doubt anyone else here does either. In theory, Cho and Co. should know what else is out there, available coaching talent wise, so I hope they are correct that Nate is the best choice for this franchise right now. Now, let's win some freaking games!
In 4 weeks this can look like a great move or a really bad one. If the blazers miss the playoffs.... This will look like a loooooooooong 2 year deal.
That was a rumor started by his agent. Wow, not near the whining I thought I'd see when I heard they had sign Nate for two more years. I'm kind of disappointed. Good move by the Blazers!
Well, you can fire coaches in the NBA without penalty besides money, so really, it's just PA's money that will go to waste.
Totally agree, as long as you're into 53 win seasons and first round playoff knock outs, this is the guy. He was born to lead this franchise. I'm am now more certain than ever this franchise has no balls.
The only thing I'm sad about is that by not getting a new coach we're missing out on the two month honeymoon period before certain posters start calling the new guy an assclown and demanding another new coach. Other than that, I'm good with Nate.
I am pretty disappointed by this. I am tired of Nate's antics. Besides some other things I could highlight, the fact that he seems to struggle when our talent is healthy doesn't bode well unless we plan on being chronically injured for the rest of his tenure.
That's right. If we remain chronically injured, he's the best coach. If we get a roster we can count on, he's lost about what to do. He's a great underdog coach, but he won't win many playoff series in his career. He's the anti-Phil. Jackson has always had top talent and knows what to do with it. McMillan excels with scraps left from injured talent.
Come on how long have we had a healthy team for Nate to really be judged by? Usually the team just gets use to the new/healthy players and then there is a injury so I think this is a bogus claim.
When has Nate had a season coaching the Blazers where he has had top talent and not performed? edit: DOH-mgb beat me to it
He's been an NBA coach for 10 years and has 1 playoff series victory. In his 2 playoffs series with the Blazers, the team has been blown out in over 50% of their games. My only gripe is that the extension wasn't for 25 years. We can not let this piece of gold get away.
You didn't answer my question. I find that odd when you quote me and then don't even bother replying to anything I said.
Blazers G Andre Miller on Nate: "I think I know a good coach from a coach that’s not so good. He definitely teaches the game the right way'' So this is a quote form Andre Miller . . . not really known as a kiss ass or media friendly or anything like that. In fact I think it is safe to say either Andre speaks his mind or remains silent. Pretty knowledgeable and credible source if you ask me.
