http://www.blazersedge.com/2011/3/1...-to-sign-chris-johnson-for-rest-of-the-season Holy hell if this doesnt point out "desperate" i dont know what does. all signs pointing to major collaspe after the last 2 games. And Dwight adds this before the Johnson signing announced.... The lack of fast-break points is getting embarrassing. And the Blazers have turned into a poor rebounding team all of a sudden, too. A lot of fans are grumbling about "too many jump shots" but the fact is, when your team is full of jump shooters, that's the kind of shots you're going to get here. The only big man on the roster who plays a post-up game is LaMarcus Aldridge and he does it only infrequently. There are other post players on this team, though -- Andre Miller and Brandon Roy are effective in that area. But you don't see it happen very often. When you look at those stats, though, it's pretty incredible that the Trail Blazers came as close as they did to winning the game. Bad defense, poor rebounding, no fast break points and no points in the paint? That's not going to win you many basketball games.
I approve. This is the perfect roster spot and opportunity to take a flyer on a project like C Johnson. He can't be less effective than the other stiffs we've brought in to fill our front court holes this season. And really, who else is available that's going to actually fix our front court inadequacies this late in the season?
Good move. We need big bodies. Johnson is quick while Collins is bulky. It also makes for more balanced practice sessions. And the less time Crash spends at the four, the better.
In a way I feel bad for this kid. He clearly has tons of talent and great size, but he couldn't put weight on if adoped Michael Moore's diet plan. If this guy were somehow able to add even 20 lbs. he could be a force. But the difference in those 20 lbs. is the difference between life in D-League and the payday of a Brandon Bass or Carl Landry.
Fair point. I stand corrected. It could have been "Things were worse than we thought...Blazers sign LeBron James" and then detailing how we were so bereft of talent that we had to bring Bron Bron on board to compete.
