    That would be pretty epic.

here's an O-live link from a little while back giving some perspective on why he didn't choose Oregon initially

    http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksbeat/2011/02/oregon_football_what_happened.html

the one listed complaint of his coach about how Oregon's defensive rotations cause starting lineman to miss 40% of the snaps seems easy to counter. Because Oregon runs such a breakneck speed offense, their defense is on the field a lot. Regularly rotating players keeps them from getting worn down by all the extra snaps. Opponents offensive lines typically do little substituting, so by the end of the game they're the ones worn down giving Oregon's D-Lineman that much more of an opportunity to shine. 5 different Duck defenders earned All Pac 10 1st and 2nd team honors this year including 2 from the D-Line. I'd also note that for some reason there were no major injuries suffered by the D this year... might less wear and tear have had something to do with it?

Good observation. That would indicate, to me, UO to be a desirous place to be. Plenty of playing time, good recognition and a major program. It all seems to fit.

if he were to become a Duck, I'd guess they'd try to redshirt him. Unless they suffer some injuries they've enough big bodies for next season and (attrition aside) the season after as well... the only guy from their rotation they'll lose are DEs Turner & Hanna. Thats my main guess why they didn't land one of the top DTs they were in on down the stretch. It would be nice to have more quality depth there, but I can understand that guys want to play

then again, as my dad always told me, there is always room at the top

would be nice.. but I think I read somewhere.. (maybe DT) that they heard Oregon Coaches are weary of transfers? Would be weird since a probable contributor on the D this year would be a transfer (Davis) and would Simmons even be considered a "transfer"?

since he hasn't practiced with UNC or even taken a single class, I don't think he's the sort of transfer they're referring to. I'd imagine this stated preference is based on them wanting to have a guy in their system as long as possible so as have him completely familiar with their schemes, the way they practice, etc... of course Simmons will have 5 years to play 4.

after sitting out and just practicing this past year, Davis will have three seasons left which is still quite a bit.
