If somehow Wade and Lebron ended up in opposite conferences, it would bring the sort of Bird/Magic rivalry back. You know, the Patrick/Hakeem stuff.
I don't think they'd play enough to really start a bonafide rivalry - the chances of meeting in the Finals are very slim because their teams probably are going to peak at different times. LeBron and Wade might face off in the Eastern playoffs several times and are almost guaranteed to start a rivalry (look at Mavs-Spurs, or Lakers-Kings a few years ago, or Bulls-Pistons back with MJ).I think the best possible thing for the league next year is if Wade and the Heat beat LeBron and the Cavs in the Eastern Finals to get to the Finals. Then the Mavs go through the Suns and the Spurs again in two classic series between maybe the three best teams in the league and beat the Heat in the Finals. I'm not saying that will happen (chances are very slim) but it would be great for the league. You start the Wade-LeBron rivalry, the Mavs-Sun rivalry becomes bonafide with Dirk vs. Nash, and suddenly the Mavs aren't the pesky little brother to Spurs and that already heated rivalry becomes one of the best in recent years. And if the Mavs tie it up with the Heat, it's pretty much the Lakers and Celtics of the 80's all over again - young star on a veteran team full of stars (Wade and Magic) vs the big white dude ( ) on another great team with a good supporting cast (Dirk and Bird). Probably not going to happen, but it would be great for the league. Actually some of these rivalries are bound to go to the next level anyway next year because the Suns, Mavs, and Spurs are all going to face each other at some point in the playoffs for one hell of a series.
Magic and Bird were rivals in college and they had a history...I just don't see any great rivalries anymore because the league is so PG and there are so few dynasties.

There're bound to be just a few dynasties somewhere in there.I think that the league has been trying to find the next Jordan for the last ten years instead of making do with the personalities it has and crafting rivalries from those. If the playoffs are anything close to what they were this year then the league is set.
I do not think Detriot will beat Miami again. Miami SHOULD be able to carry ove rand make it to the Finals again.
Detroit is younger and more hungry now that they want revenge against Miami just like Miami was more hungry this year to take care of Detroit. The key is if Mourning and Payton decide to come back or not.

They will not only meet more during the reguler season, but also in the playoffs with out both having to make the finals to face each other in the playoffs. Eastern Conference finals will be nice to watch in the up coming years with Lebron, Wade, then Orlando's team Howard is great, and plenty more I am sure. I mean there will probably be a lot of exciting moments for the NBA in the up coming years.
