Normally shoots 47% from the field. They shot 59.7%

Normally gets 23 assists. They got 30

Normally gets 22 FTA per game. They got 22.4

Basically Dallas played exactly how they wanted to play and lost to the Blazers. It becomes extremely disheartening to a team when they play as well as they wanted and lost.

Well, they did commit tons of turnovers and lost the rebounding battle and played without their better LMA defender in Haywood... Add the fact that Dirk Diggler had a shoulder injury scare - and I would argue that they can and will play better in other games.

Yeah bro, they need work on D, but they held Dallas to 15 fewer shots than they are normally taking per game. Also, they are ranked 15th in total D stats. Definitely not stellar, but actually improving. They were 20th about 10 games ago.

After that first timeout, when they kept making shots, I thought, "has anyone gone 100% from the field in a quarter?" Man were we all glad when they missed their first two shots.

To be fair, going 11-for-11 instead of 11-for-23 (47%) in a nine minute stretch accounts for 12 of those 15 fewer shots.

No man, we count the entire game. Doesn't matter what happens in any one quarter. What matters is what happens once the game is over. Dallas still had an "A" game and the Blazers still beat them. The only difference was we only had 5 turn overs. That is 7 less than what they normally allow. Also, their rebounding was at normal average and they kept us to what they normally allow as well. The only true difference was we had way more offensive boards than normal and we benefited by getting a lot of points off turn-overs.

Don't get me wrong; I think we played a great game and that Dallas did as well. But shooting 100% for nine minutes does crazy things to the stats, and what you're citing (offensive rebound differential and field goal attempts) are symptoms of that very unusual performance. Nine minutes is 19% of the game, a significant portion, and shooting 100% over that time created some anomalies. That's all. We played great, and so did Dallas. But what they did in the first quarter does have ripples that affect the entire game's stats.

I think Dallas shooting the lights out in the first quarter definitely skewed their stats for the game.

Oh now I see what you mean. Sorry man I'm a little slow. So what you are saying is 59% from the field was skewd because going 11-11 in the first. Meaning they had 67 shots and went 11-11 (16% of total shots) Their 40 makes was based on the 11 first quarter performance. 11 makes of 40 total = That was 27% of their makes. So the game ending 59% could have been, let's say 50% if you took out that 11-11?

    Okay I agree 100%
