Everyday I am going to post a cool picture and give an explanation why. What I am currently doing is team weeks and I am going to start with who I think is going to win the Division and since I am a biased Tigers fan I am going to start with the Tigers
Team Week: Tigers Photo of the Day 3/16 Brennan Boesch, I remember when this young slugger came up. It was in April of last year and it was against Texas. I remember his first hit, little did I know how much more was to come. When he first came up everything his bat touched was hit hard. His first career homerun was a Grand Slam against the Angels, the opposite way in the deepest part of left center field. From April till late June there was no rookie hitting as good as him. He was batting way over .300 over 10 Homeruns,30 RBI's. Then Maggilo went down and that really hurt Boesch because all the load that Maggilo was carrying was thrown on his young shoulders and he slumped like no other. By the end of the season his .300+ AVG. slipped to .256 only hit 4 more Homeruns and hit in about 25 more RBI's. But this season is a new start for the Tigers young slugger and it looks like he is back to hitting again, because the other day he showed off some of his light tower power against the Braves and hit a moonshot of the ESPN truck. He is also showing some control at the plate not swinging at every change up down in the zone and hold off the high outside fastball that struck him out so much last year. Look for Brennan to put up numbers.
Team Week: Tigers Photo of the Day 3/17 Since this is the last day of Tigers team week I thought I would save the best for last. It's been fun the past 7 days being able to do nothing but Tigers, but it is going to be a long time before the next time you see a Tigers picture in here. So here we go, Miguel Cabrera is simply a beast. He is only 27 years old has a career .313 batting average, and has hit at least 34 homeruns a season since 07'. Last year was no exception with a Monster .328 batting average, 38 HR's and his league leading 128 RBI's. He is also not that bad with his Glove anymore either. I am so glad we have this monster locked up till 2015 because I would not wanna be on the other side of the ball when he is at the plate. He is one of my favorite players and is so consistent. Imagine in 10 years from now what his numbers will look like if he keeps going on this pace. He currently has 247 Homeruns, if he hits 34+ homeruns a year for the next ten years when he is 37 years old he will have 587 homeruns. What a beast.
Team Week: Tigers Photo of the Day 3/18 When I seen on ESPN that Victor Martinez signed with the Tigers in December of last year, I nearly cried. Offense at the catcher position? Does that even still exist? V-Mart is a career .300 hitter which is a step up from Laird mediocre .242. V-Mart last year batted .302 with 20 HR's and 79 RBI's. Which is a million times better than Laird pathetic attempt at offense having a little leaguers average, oh wait some little leaguers are good that is an insult to them. Well he batted a crushing .207 with so much it power it blew your brains away. He had 5 HR's and was a RBI machine with 25. A measly 25. Why did they give him a uniform? I am sure some of you are asking aren't you being a little to hard on Laird? Isn't this supposed to be about Victor? Your answers to your questions are, no I am not being hard on Laird. He was a terrible catcher, and was embarrassing to watch him put on that english D and represent the Tigers franchise. I hope St. Louis enjoys him, good riddance you bum. And your right time to get back to V-Mart. Did I forget to mention how happy was that we signed a catcher that can actually play baseball? This year Victor is going to be hitting behind the most feared batter in the AL Miggy Cabrera. I am sure V-Mart will always be hitting with runners on and have plenty of chances to drive in some runs. I can't wait to see him behind the plate.
