Well I have seen both on my team and I say Steve Nash by a mile RIGHT NOW. Overall in their careers I say Kidd. Nash can shoot much better and that really helps the Suns. Kidd's shooting was terrible, but he still racked up 10+ assists on a Suns team without the talent that Nash has had. Kidd was also much better in rebounding and D. He wasn't an MVP, but he was one of the candidates one year with us. I just see him as someone that is better at more things. Nash didn't even average more than 8 assists until he came here and Kidd averaged 9 assists consistently wherever he went and had some better season.
I would say that Nash and Kidd are equals in terms of being a winner/leader. While Kidd has gotten to 2 NBA Finals to none from Nash you have to consider the time period in which Kidd did it. The Eastern Conference was a joke during that time to the point where a handful of college power conferences were better. He lost in the NBA finals towards teams that Nash would be playing and lose to in the quater/semi finals.Nash = Kidd playmaking abilities, leadership, court vision and playoff performance/winnerNash > Kidd shooting, scoring and durabilityNash < Kidd rebounding and defenseorNash < pre-microfracture surgery KiddNash > post microfracture surgery Kiddshort term future: Nash > Kiddlong term future: Nash >/= Kidd

Maybe a few years ago i take kidd. But kidd is slowing down. I would take nash because he can make anyone on the team look good. he can score if he wants to. Nash can score 25 points if he wanted or get 12 ast. If nash could defend he would be the perfect PG
In their primes, I would take Kidd over Nash anyday. If you guys remember correctly, Jason Kidd was an MVP candidate agaisnt Tim Duncan one of the years that the Nets made it to the finlas.(im not sure which one). He got beat out by one of the "soon to be" best players of all time.(or at least top 25) Jason Kidd led his average supporting cast IMO to two straight finals appearances and lost to two very good ball clubs both times in the Spurs and Lakers. If you look at Steve Nash's supporting cast of this years team, or last year's team, they overpower the supporting cast of Jason Kidd's in the two years that the Nets made it to the finals. Jason Kidd was AND is a triple double machine and one of the smartest players in the league. He knows the true definition of defense while at the same time, Steve Nash doesnt know what the word defense means. Alot of people say that Steve Nash is the true difference that makes his supporting cast better. But when you are comparing him to Jason Kidd, it doesnt matter because it didnt do anything for the ball club. The furthest Steve Nash has made it was to the WCF while Jason Kidd has made it to the finals twice. Give me Jason Kidd.
I will say that SNash is a phenomonal PG, but JKidd is a much more active player as he can score, rebound, and make plays.
A big difference between Nash and Kidd is that Kidd can command and lead the team on offense and defense. Although Kidd isn't the shooter Nash is, he makes up for it in other areas. Kidd scores enough, 13 points a game is fine when as a point he is pulling in more rebounds than his entire team. Kidd can get that defensive rebound and take off down the court, he is a good fast break passer. I remember this one play when he still had Martin, Martin was already down the court and Kidd was on a fast break, there were only two defensive guys that Kidd needed to get past, he wasn't even to half court yet and he threw a bounce pass in between them, it curved and landed right in Martin's hands, Marting grabbed it and then dunked it (2003-04 season). I bring that up, because that's one of those plays that come to my mind when I think about Kidd. When you think of Kidd, one of the first things that comes to mind is, "double-double" and "tripple-double." Kidd was right behind LeBron in the playoffs for most tripple-doubles, he had one, besides LeBron, no one else in the league had a tripple-double in the playoffs. LeBron and Kidd only played two rounds. Kidd led the league in tripple-doubles during the season. Kidd is a good on ball defender. He is a leader out on defense, Kidd sets the tempo for both offense and defense and the rest of the team follows. I take Kidd over Nash for right now.
This is a hard one. Really hard to say because Nash is a 2x MVP but Kidd is an amazing all around player.Kidd can do it all. I remember 2 seasons ago, Kidd led his team in rebounding. To do that as a PG, you definatley got talent. He is a triple-double type of player. He's a PG who doesn't really care what he scores, As long as he wins games.Nash on the other hand is a player who is all about passing and scores if he really needs to. He has an eye for the game and like everyone says, Nash makes his teamates better. Also, Leading the Suns into deep in the playoffs is an accomplishment. When Nash doesn't play for the Suns they lost like every game without him so that shows something. But if I was to choose a player, It would be Kidd just because He can do it all. It's hard to find a PG who can fill up the stat sheet like he does.
I think the reason why Nash has been flourishing lately is because he has great athletes around him and a system that works.I'll definately take Jason Kidd. He is a great all around player. Plus, he actually knows what defense is.
