"Tim Duncan got a chance to wear his sports jacket and watch the game from the bench Saturday night.

The only 21 jerseys we saw near or on the court in San Antonio's 109-98 victory over Charlotte were the replica "21? worn by Spurs public address announcer Kevin Brock and Charlotte reserve forward Eduardo Najera.

The appearance by Najera in the second quarter sparked some of the loudest boos of the game from the AT&T Center crowd. And the lone appearance of Duncan on the Jumbotron on the Spurs' bench sparked one of the loudest ovations of the evening — which is saying something on Military Appreciation Night.

His Spurs teammates and coaches could joke about Duncan's night of rest. Gregg Popovich joked that it was caused by "Mad Cow Disease." Tony Parker chuckled that "Timmy" not playing was "an excuse."

Duncan's day off was his first since the last game of last season. He was the last Spur to start every game, making it to 68 games before his night off."
