Whatever feel-good vibe that resulted from a convincing 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues at HP Pavilion was tempered by a second-period injury to Calder Trophy-candidate Logan Couture, who had to be helped off the ice after crashing awkwardly into the boards early in the second period. Couture stayed on the ice for a full minute, talking with trainer Ray Tufts, before linemates Ryane Clowe and Ben Eager provided the support needed to head to the locker room. The rookie center kept the weight off his right leg. "He was obviously in pain," Clowe said of Couture, who was officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury. "I'm sure no one will know what's going on for the next couple days, but it wasn't pretty." Other than the injury to Couture, whose 27 goals are second-highest on the team, the game went exactly the way the Sharks would have hoped facing the one team that they'll face the rest of the season that is no longer part of the tight Western Conference playoff race.
