Nice to see CJ get some burn last night. I hope he sticks around Portland this summer and hits the weight room hard. He'll play in the SL and he'll be in camp in the Fall (assuming no long term lockout). At some point, calorie intake and weight lifting has to be able to override metabolism and ectomorphy. If Rip Hamilton can put on muscle, so can Chris Johnson.
Take this how you will: last night was a career night for CJ in just about every category, and he had the highest GameScore of his young career... 5.4.
GameScore is dependent on minutes played, unlike PER, for example. CJ had a PER of over 30 for his first game as a Blazer, yet had a GameScore of 2.6.
Speaking of PER (despite the miniscule sample size); CJ has a PER of 13.9 as a Blazer; gven his PER dropped from 30 to 5 or something like that in the second game, that 4th game last night must have been another high PER outing for him.
Can he survive in the wind near the Columbia? Let's hope he doesn't open his jacket. He'll go down faster than a sapling. I predict that working out all summer will LOSE him weight. He should rest up to conserve his calories.
On Internal Media day he was adamant that he couldn't put on weight and didn't want to put on a lot of muscle because his game relies on his quickness. Maybe now that he has a non-guaranteed contract for next year it will motivate him to put on muscle and get with a specialist to put on weight. I think his only real chance of staying with us next year is if he puts on 15-20 pounds at least. on a side note i'd happily donate some of my bulk to him. So sad that a 5'11 guy is heavier then a 7 footer.
Yeah, CJ said his ideal playing weight is 220.. He weighed in at 192 at the combine and I doubt he's much more than 200 now.
Let's hope no old fan boos him, because I don't want to see the poor little guy get hurt. (Great art and artistic posts are open to various interpretations.)
