Thank you! I love being a square. By your comment, I have to assume you are one of those people who goes along with whatever everyone else is doing, just so no one will call you a "square." Good luck with that, my friend.
I drink occasionally. Responsibly. I also love smoking pot. I also workout 5 days a week and work 5 days a week. I'm 25 years old and can make my own decisions and am far from a fuckup like your nephews. Continue to judge though, your good at that.
You shouldn't drive a car either, because thousands of people die in car accidents every year. You shouldn't own a gun because it might accidentally go off and kill you or a loved one. You shouldn't eat red meat because it will clog your arteries. Hell, you shouldn't leave your house because it's just not safe out there.
You shouldn't live in a house becaue thousands die in earthquakes and tsunami that crush houses every year on average.
Water is literally the only thing I drink on a regular basis. On special occasions I drink lemonade... haha. I cut out soda and other sugary drinks a few years ago.
Surely you can see the difference, but I'll oblige you anyway. Driving a car allows me to get to and from work quickly, giving me time to spend with my family. Inherent value far outweighs the risk. Owning a gun provides for defense of my home and family, and provides peace of mind. Inherent value somewhat outweighs the risk. Eating red meat provides protein, iron, and other significant nutrients my body requires. Inherent value somewhat outweighs the risk. Drinking alcohol alters my mental state, inhibiting my judgement and reducing (but not eliminating) my ability to make good decisions. IMO, the inherent value does not outweigh the risk. Plus it generally tastes nasty. I don't begrudge anyone who feels a desire to drink. However I don't see anything of value that drinking provides that I can't have while sober. I'm with Shooter on this one; IF anyone were to ask my opinion, I would counsel them to simply avoid the alcohol altogether. My friends love having a permanent designated driver, and that's cool with me.
Danger is everywhere. Personally, I always carry a small bottle of medicinal whiskey, in case of snake bite. I also always carry, a small snake.
teach me how you did it dammit! Coke Zero just isnt cutting it for me, so I might as well cut it out altogether lol
Well it was easier for me cause I was 16.. I didn't have a job and my mom just stopped buying it haha
Alcohol has altered the minds and inhibited the judgment of millions of girls worldwide, allowing many guys to get laid and possibly even leading to your existence. Inherent value far outweighs the risk.
If your argument centers on my existence having inherent value, then you've already lost. I tell ya Wheels, cutting my Mountain Dew habit a few years back was one of the toughest things I ever did. I used to down a quart of Dew every morning at work, and then another one at lunch. Personally, I had to go cold turkey, and just force myself to drink ice water instead. Had terrible headaches for weeks, but I eventually got over it. It's just a decision and commitment that one has to make.
What about my addiction to posting? I was going to leave at 2500 posts, then 3000, then I just gave up. Every time I announce I'm going to quit cold turkey, everyone on the board begs me not to leave. Freud would say that my problem isn't posting, it's being too popular. It's driving me neurotic. I am too loved. If everyone didn't think I'm the coolest thing since sliced pepperoni, I could kick this habit. But no one will help me. No one will abuse me and tell me to go to Hell. So I'm trapped forever, posting thousands and thousands of long, meaningless, stupid posts, with unending sentences, not knowing when or how to quit, I just can't stand this anymore.
I can't believe none of you folks know about this study. (It's linked in this article.) http://http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/08/30/heavy-drinkers-live-longer-than-non-drinkers-study-finds/ Heavy drinkers live longer than non-drinkers. Moderate drinkers live longer than either of them. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! Go Blazers
^ Since nobody wanted to touch this, let's just say that there ARE legitimate reasons to drink alcohol....like living longer. Go Blazers
It's been established that a glass of red wine a day has cardiovascular benefits. I get people who choose not to drink . . . I don't get those who look down on people who choose to drink responsibly. You're no better of a person because you choose not to drink alcohol.
I'm actually making an effort to drink more. My natural tendency is towards solitude and sobriety, but drinking gets me out mingling more and enjoying life more. I am less critical of others and more accepting of myself after a drink or two. Also, a drink or two is healthy. So I am trying to meet friends after work more often for a beverage, and it seems to be working for me. Since starting this, I have met and enjoyed more people. It also got me thinking about my health and my appearance more, so now I also exercise every day, which only adds to my confidence and happiness.
And I'm sorry to say I'm no help at all... I too think you're the coolest thing since sliced pepperoni. Damn your inate charm and intelligence. Are you at least really ugly? That might help eliminate some of the bandwagon jlprk fans.
