EUGENE -- The Oregon Ducks began spring football practice Tuesday in the Moshofsky Center, and maybe the big news was a flashy performance by running back Lache Seastrunk.

Seastrunk is the five-star recruit out of Temple, Texas, who impatiently waited through a redshirt season last fall, while the Ducks cruised to the Pacific-10 Conference title and on to the BCS National Championship game.

Oregon lost to Auburn 22-19 in the title game.

Less than a month later, stories appeared on Yahoo, ESPN.com and FOXSports of possible recruiting improprieties involving Seastrunk and Willie Lyles, who runs a Houston-based recruiting service.

But none of that seemed to bother Seastrunk on Tuesday, who showed an ability to hit the hole like a streak of lightning while working with Oregon's offense.

Part of it, running backs coach Gary Campbell said, is Seastrunk's improved command of the UO offense. But there is more to it.

"I think it's a knowledge thing," Campbell said. "And I think it's a determination to prove that he can do it. I think he was very disappointed that he didn't make the travel team last year, and he's determined to prove that he can play at this level and be a great player at this level.

"That seems to be his mindset just talking to him. I wondered if it was just a lot of talk and no show. But I was really impressed with him today."

glad to hear he is doing better with the playbook. Last time I heard anything he was having trouble with it, and I saw on some tweet today that Chip Kelly was yelling at him for tempo, but he does that to everyone.

count your blessings... I see the negative in every thread, anytime we dont win by 844 points its a failure... and I predict we lose every game, and we miss the playoffs! Sorry its Teh Truth!!

in all seriousness though, this Ducks offense on paper scares the crap out of any opponent. (note I said on paper) But just imagine trying to stop all these weapons, its an embarrassment of riches almost. I am imagining a Backfield with Thomas in the shotgun, zone read to LMJ, the DE bite, but Thomas pulls out... The Defense worries about new found speedster Lache running a flare route out of the backfield, while Barner runs out of the slot position for a fake sweep, Crap Josh Huff is streaking downfield gotta cover him! Oh weight Lavasier Tuinei and his 6 foot 10 frame is runnign a post route, crap David Paulson is in now and we gotta worry about him! New speedy WR's Devon Blackmon and Tacoi Sumler are in, WTF WHO DO WE COVER?!?!?!

I have to be realistic. I'm concerned about losing Holmes and Thran. The Ducks can't afford another Boise debacle on the O-line in an opener against LSU.

Then again, Thomas is a MUCH better QB than Masoli was, so at least the passing game should be OK even if the Ducks can't run against LSU.

A legit concern. The biggest difference IMO was Bellotti was the coach the year before, and I dont recall him playing as many people as Chip does. At least this year breaking in a new line, hopefully the experience the new starters have will help them. Although at the same time LSU's D-line is a lot better than Boise's I'm sure lol.
