Doesn't allow you to copy the info but it's basically something like this:Marion, Barbosa, First Round PicksforRashard Lewis and possibly Danny Fortson as a fillerWhy? Phoenix will avoid the luxury tax and will give them a chance to re-sign Boris Diaw and Barbosa. Why for Seattle? They think hes going to opt out of his contract next season and Seattle wants to put fans in the seats.Article: http://draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1369
I definitely don't see Phoenix doing this. They got to the WCF this year and have Amare coming back. Why would they shake up their team?
I don't know, a deal is going down but nobody knows the players for sure yet. Who knows who is involved but this deal looks like it could really happen.
Wait a minute. Phoenix would lose one of their top players Marion, there best player off the bench and two first round picks for Rashard and Fortson??? I see why they would do it but it seems like Seattle would definetly get the better deal especially since they would get 3 first round picks.Edit: lol nvm i get it seattle gives the 10th pick and phoenix gives the 26th pick. This could actually be a pretty good tarde. For those of you that want to read the article here it ishttp://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1369
Besides getting the 10th pick, this might not be so bad for Phoenix. They have faced losing one of their stars before. Steve Nash will jus make better players out of Fortson and Lewis.
Guys, there doing this because they would be over the luxury tax when they are going to sign Diaw next year and Nash.

Lewis and Marion aren't exactly night and day. What makes this deal good for PHX is Fortson. Why? Cause Kurt Thomas wasn't working in the least.
Why is everyone saying he is going to be traded? (Marion)He is a solid hustler, can hit the open shot, and has shown he can be a 5th option on offense. If Phoenix is actually thinking of shipping him, I'll kill myself

LOL has anyone actually read the article to see why the Suns are doing it??? It sounds like the only people that have read it are me, BCB, and Heatfan32
Isn't it because Marion doesn't want be put behind Amare with his comeback. If that the deal involves Barbosa, the luxury tax thing means nothing, because the Suns are only doing it for Diaw then. And is he really worth resigning and giving up Marion for that? Lewis is only a one time deal with this trade, he'll leave when his contract is up. Fortson wouldn't step one foot in a Suns uni after he sued Colangelo after the whole Zarko incident where he broke his wrists(that led to Colangelo calling Fortson a punk). The trade makes a little more sense if Barbosa is not included, meaning Suns are doing it to keep Diaw and Barbosa with Nash and Amare. They can't re-up both with Marion on the books. Seattle makes out nicely in the deal, by picking up a big name player for a guy their about to lose in a year. If they get Barbosa, it's just a added bonus.
Mark my words. This trade is not going to happen. This has to be the worst trade possible now for the suns. I heard that Chicago offered Tyson Chandler and the 2nd overall pick.

Also, signing Diaw for 45-55 million for 5 years would put Phoenix over the luxury tax.
This trade doesent make sense for the suns at all, marion is decent offensively but very good defensively so they would bascially give up defense for more offense

Marion having a really good season, and doing good in the playoffs once he got his head together (at the beginning... :thumbdn1: ), only to have Amare come back and be put in the back seat once again.

Phoenix would be great off if they don't have to trade Barbosa. Rashard for Marion straight up is not that bad of a trade for the suns. They would definitely improve from the outside and that could be scary since Marion was a poor outside shooter. That would make Amare that much more unguardable considering other teams won't be able to help out on defense because of all the 40%+ 3 point shooters out there.
Phoenix would lose rebounding edge and defense with switching Marion for Lewis. Lewis can hit the 3 ball better but it still isn't the margin that they would lose defensively and rebounding between the 2 players. Especially when Marion isn't terrible from 3. Also, take into account, it's a one year rental. I would say that go in favor of Sonics. I don't see why the Suns are scared to go into the luxury tax, if they want to win it now, then keep your core and go for it.
