Any word on how his kid is doing? Last I heard he was playing basketball in Europe somewhere.

This makes me happy! And he got in over Reggie Miller too.

Yeah, Sabas! One of my all-time favorites. The touch passes, the guttural roars of "SCOTTIE", the rolling thunder drive down the lane that would somehow line-drive right into the hoop. Fantastic. Of course, he's also one of the biggest "what ifs" for Blazer fans of that era. If we just could have convinced him to come stateside a bit earlier...

Reggie Miller didn't make it? hmm... not sure what I think about that. I remember that game where he drained multiple three's in a miracle come back, seems to have been one of the clutch shooters of his generation....

    Oh well, cheers to Sabonis!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
In my opinion, Reggie Miller deserves the Hall of Fame (I didn't used to think so, due to his complete one-dimensionality...but he was the most efficient scorer in NBA history and shot a fair amount) but it's not a travesty to me that he didn't get in this year. He's more borderline to me, like Dennis Rodman or Dikembe Mutombo.

Sabonis is a no-doubter, considering that it counts European and college ball.

Sabonis is my favorite Blazer of all time. Probably the best passing big man to ever play the game.

It'll be a LONG time -- if ever -- to see another player at his size with his skillset. Sabas was one of a kind, and SO good even at his broken down stage when we got him. Love the behind-the-back and bowling ball passes he made.. and the skyhooks. He deserves HoF status, for sure.

I agree...in fact, I'd say only a couple of centers had that skillset. And it's remarkable that Portland had them both.

Basically, the Sabas that wore the Scarlet & Black is the equivalent of the 2010-11 Brandon Roy. For those of us lucky enough to see him before the injuries--the 2006-10 Brandon Roy--words can't explain how incredible he was.
