He looked awesome yesterday, especially, on both ends of the floor. I think he's due for more shots. With LA running on fumes, we should go to Nic some more. It will not only rest Aldridge, but give Nic more confidence.

These great stretches of games have come more often ever since Gerald has arrived. He had a similar run in March.

This is the perfect time for him to break out.

great to see him play so well! It's interesting he's playing his best ball WITH the Wallace addition, we may have the best SF combo in the league and both play very good D and can play/guard different positions. Much rather have Nic and Wes spilt Rudy's minutes as Rudy has just stunk it up.

I'm surprised that Rudy has been getting such little hate. I don't know if his back really is bothering him (like he says), but holy shit. Patty has been better than him.

Hate or love? who cares, it's about playing guys minutes because they deserve it. Nic averaging 32-33 minutes last 3 games, Wes around 30 and Rudy around 20. I would suggest giving most of Rudy's minutes to Nic and Wes, they both can defend way better and both shoot WAY better than Rudy - it's a no brainer IMO.

Hate. I thought the people here would be killing him right now, but the hate has been pretty reserved. Rudy has so much more in his game than just being a shooter. I wish he'd realize it and handle the ball some more. Rather than Roy running the offense in that second unit, I'd rather have Rudy doing it, with Roy running off the ball.

Maybe Rudy has "more in his game" but the big problem is he does not show it nearly enough. For a supposed sharp shoote that we need he's been firing duds all year, I'd much rather have Wes and Nic take most of his minutes

Yeah too bad about Rudy. His effort is still there, but he can't buy a 3 right now. He did have 2 steals, 3 assists and he drew at least drew one offensive foul last night. He just needs to get the stroke back. When he is playing well he makes a big difference. He has 4 games to get his confidence back.

when its playoff time you have to go with the guys who have been and are playing well, that is obviously Wes and Nic, I'd love to see Rudy get it back but he's been shooting awfully all year. I have nothing against him or his effort, but overall he's a liability on the floor when compared to Wes or Nic.

Why do you feel the need for any player on your favorite team to be hated on?

I don't feel he "needs" to be hated on. Given how bad this forum had killed other players who have struggled (see: ROY in particular), I see a double standard.

I wonder how Nico's back feels today? Getting crushed between the Jazz player and the metal stair looked painful.

Man, I don't understand what is going on, but Rudy is fucking horrible lately. Any rational explanation?

Because his play is so bad, so amazingly bad, that he has actually cost us a couple of games at least in the last month. That is the fucking seeding my friend. If we are bumped in the 1st round because of a bad matchup one could easily say - "but for Rudy suckage".

And, 2 games would be more if not for Gerald Wallace being so freaking good during the same time he has bailed out more games we would have lost, possibly out of the playoffs.

    Thank god for Wallace.

    Interesting idea.

I think Roy as backup PG has been a disaster. For some reason, even in that role, he is just a ball-stopping chucker, who (worse) is easily picked-off as the ball-handler.

He can't create off the dribble really well anymore. And lacking the ability to cut hard and stop hard and jump to pass, he is just a turnover machine waiting to happen. Which leads to him smartly deciding to cut the turnovers way down.....by just shooting the ball himself. Which destroys the offense.

Roy needs to move to backup Shooting Guard.

However, I think it may be too late to try a change in the rotation yet again and make it work in time for the playoffs.

I think Nate may have made a critical error in thinking a gimpy SG could be an ok backup PG. It is real different when you have a gimpy old PG and try to make them a backup PG. PG's run plays, run pick-and-roll plays, and use screens, all things that still work (just not as well) when the player is slow.

SG's like Roy, break down their defender, can create their own shot, get into the paint and the collapsing defense allows them to get assists. All things that work poorly when the player is slow.

I don't know what the solution is right now, but damn, the failure of Cho to get this team a quality backup point guard has been a problem unsolved his entire tenure that I fear is biting us in the ass hard.

    Who needs Durant anyway!

Loved this stat last night, we are one of only two teams in the league to average 6 players will 12ppg or more, Love the Team ball the Blazers play.

You've got a point, Masbee. Maybe the solution is to just bench Rudy and run Mills out there for the 8 minutes/game Miller can't play. Make Roy your SG.

Miller played 43 mpg in the playoffs in his last year with Philly. We lowered that number last year because he was ineffective after the first game against Phoenix.

But maybe McMillan should plan on riding Miller really, really hard in the playoffs this go-around.

Yep, I think Wallace is a great role model for Nic. After seeing first hand how hard Wallace plays on EVERY play, Nic has been much more aggressive. And, an aggressive Nic is a very good thing.

Props to Nic for not pouting, accepting whatever role he's asked to play and making the most of his minutes.
