There is a report floating around that Arsenal veteran Robin Van Persie blasted teammate Abou Diaby in the dressing room at the half at Blackpool on Sunday. Diaby had a needless late first-half booking for kicking the ball which seems to have brought resentment over Diaby's Newcastle sending-off (back) to a boil. To me this is THRILLING news as our team lacks leadership and discipline and if our captain overlooked Diaby's costly (though overstated) mistake against the magpies, at least somebody on the team has the wherewithal to say something. The players should be holding themselves and each other accountable for their poor performances late this season. Showing this kind of passion even after every pundit and expert has written the team's title hopes off is a good sign.
This is great to see and I know exactly where van Persie is coming from. Diaby cost us the game against Newcastle (I dread to think of the game) and could of easily done the same this time around. Diaby had a fairly decent match against Blackpool so I don't want to dwell on this too much as it's hard to think of compliments for the lad. The more of this that goes on in the locker room, the better. I want Lehmann to channel his passion through Fabregas and van Persie which will disperse it throughout the squad. We still have a very good shout to win the League but we're going to need to win our last seven games and to achieve that we need complete confidence and self-belief. No matter what happens at the end of the day, we're still proud of you! Many predicted us to be out of the top four this season.
