IF tomorrow OKC WINs and Dallas loses they will have the same record. Dallas has the tie breaker if Im correct. Even if they don't have the head to head match up which I think they do. They also have a better conference record. The lakers also have the tie breaker against okc so will someone please explain to me how they can end up as the third seed??? AM I dumb?

Is it a seeding thing I thought division leaders were only guaranteed the top four seeds not the top three. Does this sounds right. Some one help me im going crazy I don/t want to face okc at all so I want to know how it can occur someone help me please.

OKC is a division winner, so that's the tie breaker

Teams 1 to 4 in each conference are the three division winners and the team with the next best regular-season record, with the seeding of these four teams determined by regular-season record. The playoffs seedings of Teams 5 to 8 are based upon regular-season record. Ties are broken pursuant to the rules set forth below. from Nba.com

It's true that a non-division winner can get ahead of a division winner in the seedings, but only if they have a better record. In the event of a tie, the very first tiebreaker is a division championship. Head-to-head comes second.

Yeah, division winners are given a top 4 spot. But in your scenario, OKC would be given the 3rd spot because they have a tied record with Dallas AND are a division winner. They were not rewarded the 3rd seed solely because they are the division winner. Or at least that's what I heard from the Mikes on Courtside.

Dallas better beat the hornets. I feel like that NO might not want to face LA because of their size disadvantage after losing west but I know monty williams will try and have them win the game. It would be funny if both memphis and NO purposely tried to lose to avoid the lakers. I see OKC whipping MiL but maybe they Don't want to face us maybe they would rather face Denver. Its just a matter if guys get rested or not. I hate that teams rest guys because dallas at home would usually beat NO so it sucks if it turns out that we face okc because dallas rested players. I do think however we have a chance aginst okc becasue our game have been so close. just worried about the officals.

Dallas Will Be Portland's Opponent If...

    All three teams lose
Los Angeles wins UNLESS OKC ALSO WINS AND DALLAS LOSES.
L.A. Will Be Portland's Opponent If...

    L.A. loses and Dallas wins
OKC Will Be Portland's Opponent If...

OKC wins, Dallas loses, no matter what L.A. does.

    Basically, LA needs to win.

If I was Dallas, I'd go for the win tomorrow. I would rather face the Blazers than the Nuggets because Denver has been the hotter team ever since the Melo trade. But maybe Dallas feels better about matching up with the Nugz. Who knows?

But if both teams have identical records, then it goes to the division winner. That is the first tie breaker. Recap from the year we were the 4th seed. The same scenario happened.
