Still got an hour or so before tipoff and a comment by Denny got me thinking.

Kinda hard on my boy Keith there, Denny. In his defense, Bogans is only among the "worst" SGs when it comes to PER and scoring. That's not surprising when you consider that the's 77th of 79 SGs in terms of usage%. On the plus side, he's 19th in true shooting% and 10th in assist%.

Heard on the radio the other day that Bogans' 17.8 mpg is the lowest of anyone in the last 30 years who started 82 games. As I've been saying, Bogans is a starter in name only.

But that's not what got me thinking.

Like almost all Bulls' fans, I believe that the Bulls' FO will do something about the SG position this offseason even if they were to win the whole shiteree. But what? The obvious answer is to acquire a legitimate starter...someone who will not only start, but also finish games.

If they do this, what do you do with Korver and Brewer? They're both paid around MLE money and the only reason they've played the kind of minutes that justify their salaries is because the team doesn't have a true starter at SG.

About the only SG minutes Korver has been getting have been at the end of games. Presumably those will be gone. Korver's other minutes come from backing up Deng at SF and playing with Deng when they move Luol to PF. Those remaining minutes don't justify $5MM.

Brewer's getting nearly all his 22 mpg at SG, most of them with the Bench Mob. If we assume that the new starting SG will play somewhere around 33 mpg, that only leaves 15 for Brewer unless, as he did in Utah, he plays some SF.

Net, as I see it, one of Korver and Brewer will need to be moved. Which one would depend on what sort of new SG we get. If his skill set leans towards the defensive end, you trade Brewer. If it leans towards shooting/scoring, you move Korver.

It's also possible that both could go, with Bogans (team option for next season) playing backup SG and the FO also acquiring a backup SF.

Anyway, I was wondering how you guys think this will play out.

Someone has to be traded if we bring back a guy who makes at least $4M.

But what's wrong with a couple of MLE guys who can play SG/SF as bench players?

As I've been saying for the longest time - Shane Battier in a sign and trade with CJ as the principal with our lowest 1st rounder

Draft Mack the knife as our combo

Send out Taj and Bogans for Nick Colison to replace Kurt

Battier takes Bogans minutes + a another 3 or 4 to balance it up across across the wing. Also remembering Deng and Battier can play spot minutes at the 4 when we go small

Two guys I would love to see are Aaron Aflalo and Jordan Farmar. I'm not sure we have the assets to pull Aflalo but there should be some trade for Farmar available.
