http://draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1374 It's rumored that the Hawks would draft Brandon Roy at #5, and Houston would draft Shelden Williams at #8. Then Atlanta would trade Roy to Houston for Shelden and Luther Head. I believe every word of it, and I am sort of expecting it on draft day. There have been too many comments about a promise Shelden has with Atlanta, and this deal makes sense for both teams. Atlanta gets there big man so they have someone when Harrington leaves, and they also get a PG added to the roster (who can also play the 2 and is a good scorer). Houston gets Roy who is a combo guard and can basically do anything, he would help Houston very much.
Wow Atlanta gets a steal with this trade. Head is a good player with tons of potential. They get there MUCH needed point guard. Williams might be a top 5 player of this draft when its all said and done. Him staying at Duke for 4 years has gave him tons of expierence. Now, on the downside this just keeps putting Forwards on Atlantas roster. They already have Marvin Williams, Josh Smith, Al Harrington, and Josh Childress.
I like the trade a ton, if I actually had confidence in Shelden. Right now, i'm 50/50 on him..I think this trade would benefit us two ways, we get a PG/and Shelden(who the Hawks seem to love)..

Atlanta is stacked with wings, not big men. And not to mention Harrington is leaving. But there starting big men this year were Harrington/Zaza. Subtract Zaza, add Shelden. A big man is a big need for Atlanta.
But Zaza is a nice solid player, and he's not going anywhere. I would still expect Zaza to start for us.
I wouldn't say Luther Head has tons of potential, he's a nice player but for Houston to trade him away tells you they don't really value him as high as many fans do.

He needs to adjust to the NBA PF before he reaches NBA centers.
Shelden Williams is 6'8" 260, he and Zaur Pachulia would form a nice young duo inside. Atlanta needs a guy like Williams who plays defense and plays the game like a man. The Hawks have too many soft swingmen.

But the fact is, Williams won't start, atleast for the 1st half of the season. We have Josh Smith, Marvin Williams; both of them deserve the starting position more than Shelden since he's just a rook. If he can prove enough, and play his heart out, he can get some starts for us and contribute alot this year.

Marvin Williams and Josh Smith just won't cut it at PF and i'm sure Shelden would be a immediate help considering he's so polished coming from 4 years at Duke. I could see Josh Smith starting at SF, Shelden at PF, Zaur at C and Marvin coming off the bench.
I agree with BCB - Smith/Marvin aren't PF's and should not be used as one. I think that Atlanta should trade one of Childress or Smith to provide minutes for Marvin and also they should try and get some sort of PG. But anyway, about the PF spot, Shelden would definitely start at the 4 for Atlanta. Williams might not be ready to start yet anyway, and even if he is he is no PF, neither is Smith.
<span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%">TRADE AFRO-MAN!</span>I don't think Mike Woodson would start a rookie anyways. I wouldnt mind him starting at all, I love when young guys get playing time. I think Marvin Williams CAN play SF. He can drive, shoot the 3, hes well built, and he's just as big as the majority of PF's coming into the NBA now-a-days anyway. PF is def. not his true position, but I have faith that he can play there for sure. Shelden will probobly get a decent amount of starters minutes his rookie year, because of his intensity, and his game being so polished.
Wow, this is a nice trade for the Rockets, just no offense to Head, he didn't bring much other then shooting. Rockets bring in a potential rookie of the year to pair with Tmac/Yao. That is a very nice trade for them. Hawks, get their guy and a nice player in Head. I don't think he's the pg their looking for, he will probably be the combo guard off their bench to bring a scoring punch. But a good trade that benefits both teams. But isn't the trade hinged on whether Roy does fall to 5. If he doesn't, this trade doesn't go.

He is a SF. But he is a perimiter player (who needs a more consistant jumper) and an athletic freak - he is no big man to go inside and bang for boards or play in the paint with his back to the basket. Same with J-Smoov. If everything is true, and Shelden is drafted by Houston and traded to Atlanta, he will start (unless they miraculously re-sign Harrington - which will not happen).
Well. Mike Woodson is mentally retarded at times, so I have no idea what to expect when the the season starts up again..
Yeah, Head really wouldnt be the answer at PG for Atlanta...he's 6'3 but he doesnt really have any playmaking skills, and wouldnt really run the team's offense that well. He's pretty much a shooter, thats what I've observed of him. So this would be the Hawks lineup assuming Harrington doesnt return to the teamG Head (they have no other PG that can really run the team, 'cept for Lue, I guess)SG JohnsonSF J. SmoothPF S. WilliamsC PachuliaAnd with Josh Childress and Marvin Williams coming off the bench.
Yeah, but if they can work a sign-and-trade with Harrington for a PG, then that wouldn't be a bad lineup.
I'd love this. DO THIS MAN! DO THIS!I just don't want to lose Head though And im pretty worried about Roy's knees. Hope they're fine.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Bulls Deny Duhon To Celtics 27th June, 2006 - 6:45 am Chicago Sun-Times - While admitting the deal would be enticing, a Chicago source told the Chicago Sun-Times that the rumored deal that would send Chris Duhon and the 16th pick in Wednesday's draft to Boston for the seventh pick will not happen. The rumor, started by draftexpress.com, would have had to be agreed to in advance by Duhon since he signed an offer sheet with Toronto last summer. The source also said the Bulls have yet to decide what they will do with their picks, which include the No. 2 selection. [READ]</div> Another dumb rumor.
Ugh. I would have liked that Duhon deal too. Get our much neede PG, then draft Hilton Armstrong at 16.
