Nah, it wasn't really Nate. Granted he never should have Roy in their late in the 4th.

For the most part we shot poorly from '3' and the refs gave Dallas some good calls. They are a jump shooting team that doesn't play much in the paint, yet Dallas had 29 FT's to our 13. And many hard fouls against us were not called.

The refs completely bailed out a cold shooting Dallas team with a free throw parade. But having Roy in the game was not the problem - who would have replaced him? Matthews pulled a complete no-show tonight.

Oh and by the way, Nate might not even be caple of losing this series

Portland is the better team. But I wouldn't put it past him

    Matthews plays better defense.

While I don't think Nate cost us the game, I do think he needs to look real hard about shutting Roy down for the remainder of the playoffs. He's went from an all-star to a liability on offense and defense. I'd rather see Matthews out there hustling with Roy's minutes or spread some more to Batum.

Don't need to shut him down. Need to play him in limited minutes and not like he is the old roy and the whole 4th quarter

I agree with the OP. Roy shouldn't have been in the 4th qtr at all. Nate should have brought Miller back a lot earlier then 4 minutes left. Camby and even Matthews should have been in there instead of Roy. It cost us the game and it was Nate's decision. That was really dumb coaching by Nate!

As was mentioned Matthews plays much better defense, so by default if Roy sucks on offense, he should not be in. Plus Camby who was a monster at rebounding could have helped us over Roy...

Matthews only played 18 minutes to Roy's 26 minutes. When Roy was running the show at PG we played terrible. Roy should get only 10-15 minutes at the most. I love Roy but he just can play defense with those knees and his offense isn't that good either. Matthews never got a chance to get going. Like other posters said Matthews at least plays good defense.

Playing Roy in crunch time was a huge mistake. That's on Nate.

Some players have to adjust their games when they lose their athletic ability.

Roy is not an NBA player w/o his. The decline is mind-boggling.

Who was playing the point at the beginning of the 4th when we were playing well? I like Wes and he is a better defender, but was not having a good game and he is not as good of a passer. Roy's D was not a factor in this game. He was guarding Terry and did a good job. Over all our D was good. That was not the problem.

Why were Miller and Camby benched? Neither played enough minutes tonight. I have no idea how Roy could have earned so many minutes. NOTE TO NATE: In a playoff game this close, you might as well play your best players.

My guess would be that without Miller, the Blazers took a lead in the 4th. Why bring him back early.

And when Dallas went with Dirk at Center in the 4th, who was Camby going to guard? He can't guard the perimeter. And when Dallas goes to the Zone, camby is not eactly a factor on offense either. 29 minutes for Camby is ample.

+1. If Roy were an undrafted rookie, playing at his current level, he wouldn't make a roster.

Miller was one of our very best players tonight. 34 minutes is not enough, IMO.
With Chandler and Haywood combining for 48 minutes, I don't think 29 is enough for Camby. Make them deal with us, not the other way around.
Even if you disagree, there is no way they should have lost minutes to Roy. At least give those minutes to Rudy or get defensive with Wes.

what if he were an undrafted rookie playing at his current level, on an unguaranteed 14.5M contract and having serious health issues?
