I wonder what would've happened if he just quoted the stats. 19-2 FT in the 4th, etc.

Is 35K 10 more than normal or 15 less than normal for calling out the refs? Usually those fines are in units of 25.

Did George Karl get fined, too? He actually commented and bashed a play that wasn't called.

He should just start saying "both teams played hard my man." to answer every question from the press.

Well, iirc, Sheed got slapped with a fine for that too.

Did you see Ty Lawson get a tech for simply illustrating what Collison did on the play where they called a charge? Bill Kennedy called it, and Lawson wasn't even talking to him.

The first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter in the OKC game were hilarious, at least if one-sided officiating makes you laugh as it makes me laugh.

Should have called the refs homosexual slurs. It'd only have cost him 65k more.

If his comments work and the reffing is more even-handed tomorrow night, then it will be money well spent. That said, I find it interesting that Stern cracks down so hard on comments about officiating, but does nothing to curb the incessant whining by guys like Popovich that goes on while the games are being played.

BTW, does it bug anybody else that the local reporters who cover the Blazers always take the see-no-evil approach to blown calls? It seems to me that when a guy who does as little complaining as McMillan does goes public about a huge discrepancy in calls, it's a story. I think these guys are so afraid of being called homers that they deliberately avoid addressing the situation. I'd love for one of these guys to sit down with an objective outside expert, maybe a college ref, and watch the video of the game to see if there's enough to support Nate's case. It would make an interesting story either way.

Oh well, maybe Nate's mild whining will work and officiating won't be an issue from here on out.

Nate's case is that the Mavs shot 19 FTs in the 4th quarter, while the Blazers shot 2. Anybody with functioning eyeballs could see fouls called on the Dallas end weren't called on the Portland end. It's a good idea, eblazer, but in this case, it's obvious to all but the Nate Bashers and Mav fans, yet even some Mav fans said it was to make up for Dirk being hit all game long. So, I guess it's only the Nate Bashers, and they'll never be satisfied.

Yeah, I'm sure that will help. As if the league doesn't know we got fucked by the refs in that game.

Stern was behind it. He's probably getting a good laugh over it.

No. On the contrary, they acknowledged that there was a mistake.

As if that matters to Karl.

If there were any integrity or "respect for the game," it would be the refs getting fined.

Well it's one thing to complain about calls, if your team is playing soft. Problem was the Blazers were attacking the basket almost 70% of the possessions, yet only had 1 foul call. And to be fined for the officiating is ludicrous. You can see Nate was being very rational about his argument. He wasn't blatantly calling out the refs; just posting a question.

Not sure why recording the fouls/bad calls will help them. If anything, it probably pisses the league off more.
