It's a stupid law. At least in these online games I believe you have to have the money to back up your bets.
The problem with live play isn't the inconvenience aspect, it's the profitability. You see A LOT more hands online than you do in a live game. I used to Four-table Limit Hold 'Em games online which would allow me to play about 240 hands per hour (60 hands per table x 4 tables). Playing live you see about 30-40 hands in an hour if you aren't playing with douchebags that take forever with every decision. It adds up quickly, 3 hours of play would be 720 online hands vs. 90-120 live.
Sure. Any consumer should be able to detect salmonella in his sandwich or lead paint on his kid's toys. Screw that government regulation. Some of us have guns. barfo
Except they aren't doing a very good job at all of regulating the food industry, or the drug industry, or banking industry, or..... Money talks, bullshit walks with the Federal Gov.
Yeah but you are not playing with money correct? Isn't it a tournament where you pay n amount of money to play, everyone gets the same amount of chips... and they there is some kind of prize the last guy in wins or something like that? I don't know... but I was under the impression that it is... not the same as real poker.
theres a casino out here that just gets away with it because they donate some of the money to charity i think, and the odds are rigged too, or the payouts i should say, like roulette pays out at 27.5-1 or someshit
I love poker, but I'm more a fan of the poker night with the buddies. I never liked online because you can't see the other people. Harder to tell if they're bluffing.
Why is that? Which party decreased the people who check these things, because stated party doesn't believe in regulation?
There should be regulation I agree with you. In fact these companies want regulation and have organized groups to try and work with the US and others to pass it. The argument is whether the US should be able to regulate a company operating overseas and out of US jurisdiction. It's a slippery slope. One of the biggest lobbyist groups fighting legal online gambling are the Las Vegas casinos. Barbara Boxer was one of the most vocal because she wanted to make sure her son Doug Boxer was able to cash in on a sweet heart deal. http://www.uncoverage.net/2010/10/barbara-boxers-sweet-casino-deal-for-her-son/
If they want to export thier goods to the US, we certainly have the right to make sure it conforms to any standards we may have. Regarding the lead in toys... I know very micro US manufacturers (think out of work carpenter making toy choo choo trains) complained about the regulations because the cost of the tests they have to do to prove their trains don't have lead... for exceeds any profit margin they could have. A huge manufacturer could absorb those costs... but not a one employee home business.
Okay, sort of off topic but speaking of casinos, I decided to make last Sunday "Vice Day" and went to Spirit Mountain in the morning. I played blackjack for 5 hours, drank 2 tasty bloody Mary's and turned $40 into $200 by being really lucky with the cards. It was a good day.
The government couldn't figure out an effective way to tax online poker (both parties, FYI), so they banned it. Now be good little citizens and buy $10 worth of PowerBall tickets before going to your local state-licensed casino for the weekend.
Full Tilt says they struck a deal with the Feds in which anyone with money online will get that cash returned. I can't access my funds yet, but I have no reason not to believe them, since they have always been true to their word regarding past withdrawls. It may take awhile but that's fine. As some have already mentioned, I think the bottom line is the US being jealous they lost out on all the potential tax dollars. Quit the cryin, find a way to regulate it and tax it, similar to brick and mortar casinos outside Vegas, and legalize it. This is bullshit.
they should set it up themselves...(USA Poker, anyone?), take the rake and auto-tax the winnings as you pull your money out. You get a 1099-G at the end of the year and it's all clean. Since it's their site, they can use Feds to do any investigation of shady stuff.
