The GS Warriors still have Larry Riley at GM. And Robert Rowell as something or rather. They both need to go before they spoil the rest of the bunch! Who would you get rid of next if you were Lacob? Riley? Rowell? Let Riley/Myers decide on Keith Smart as new coach? I rather have Myers decide. Lacob seems to be the type of owner who wants to be involved in some of the decisions, so let him get involved in the big ones like signing the next David Lee or making a big trade. Don't sweat the small stuff like Riley, Rowell or Smart. Finally, knowing what you know now -- Greg Monroe or Ekpe Udoh? I'm okay with Udoh even though Monroe could have replaced AB better. Udoh is a better defensive player although I would like to see him score more and develop a shot. Larry Riley on keeping the Ellis/Curry backcourt (maybe), Biedrins, Smart and more http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawaka...urt-maybe-biedrins-smart-and-more/#more-10826
I think the Warriors need a good coach (leaning toward it not being Smart though). I don't think Smart did a good job in getting the most out of his players. I think he struggled in putting his players in roles to achieve. I don't think he ever set a system. There were glimpses of it, I think mostly when the offense ran through Lee in the high post and the team's passing strength was focused. But this was only done sparingly as if it were by accident. If we keep Monta Ellis (I'm not against this), I think we need a coach to teach him what I think most players from high school need to know. That is the importance of playing within a system. Kobe Bryant had this problem according to Phil Jackson. According to an article I read recently, Phil brought in Michael Jordan to teach Kobe a thing or two. But when they first met Kobe was just focused on proving that he could beat MJ one-on-one. Phil Jackson had to teach Kobe how to play within a system and take what is given. I think these are lessons Ellis really needs to learn and be exposed to. I also will not mind getting rid of Riley. He accepts mediocrity a little too much for my liking. Of course to get rid of these guys we need to bring in someone, who hopefully will do a better job (not the Eric Musselman for Mike Montgomery type of moves). I am not quite sure who I would want to replace these two at the moment, so of course my arguments to getting rid of these guys is not so good now. Here's the exert about Phil, Kobe, and Jordan. http://articles.ocregister.com/2011-04-07/news/29398448_1_phil-jackson-lakers-derek-fisher/2 Jackson told the story of arranging a first meaningful meeting between Bryant and Michael Jordan in the 2000-01 season, which was filled with Kobe-driven friction after the first championship the previous season. Jackson's goal was for the learned Jordan to get the eager Bryant "to understand he didn't have to stray outside the offense" and the Zen idea to "wait till the game presents itself." Jackson said Bryant's first comment to Jordan, however, was: "I can take you one-on-one." Bryant came around and built his own legend, one of the prides of Jackson's career.
I don't know enough about the internals of the organization, but I'd like Rowell to go. He is definitely associated with the former regime. It'd be like getting rid of Saddam but keeping Baghdad Bob. Everyone should stay until they can be phased out or worth keeping. Let's just say everyone is fired and they have a year to get their jobs back.
