Here's how you get more minutes: Don't completely suck or be a no show on offense. Even though I know you are a horrible defender, really try to put effort in. Also, don't miss your 2 free throws, that won't get you anywhere.

we all have the "right" to think and feel how we want, where it's dicey and questionable is when we express those feelings in words when perhaps we shouldn't have. Roy saying he's "been treated badly" frankly for me is ridiculous, first off the franchise IMO has treated him incredibly well, both financially and allowing him as much time as needed to recover from injuries. Then the timing of this IMO could not be worse, he needs a severe reality check about his "deserving or earning" minutes. IMO ROY's chances of remaining a Blazer after this yr just took a big hit, if there is any semblance of an amnesty clause IMO the team will not hesitate to use it - something I encourage.

Definitely. But I've always felt he was an immature whiner that got a free pass because of his polished demeanor and big play, so I'm not surprised by any of what's transpired since his fall from grace.

    What a joke....

Roy was horrible out there last night, he didn't deserve the 8 minutes he did get 0-1, 0-2 on FT? turnover....he wwas downright pathetic out there....

and for Roy, a 3-time All-Star, rookie of the year, career 19ppg scorer to suddenly say that he doesn't know his role and somehow cannot even score let alone PLAY out there? That is fucking ridiculous...

Man the Blazers better hope\pray that the get a one time waiver exemption when the new collective bargaining agreement takes effective, the sooner Roy is off the team the better.

Roy should have played for Matthews down the stretch. The offense was a joke in the 4th quarter.

The problem is that Roy, even when healthy, has never been the kind of player who steps into the game and is instant offense. He's always needed time to "find his rhythm". Expecting him to change instantly just because that's the role that's needed is the epitome of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Expecting him to convert to a backup point guard simply because the Blazers don't have another decent one on the roster (especially now that he has bad knees) is the same kind of situation. As I see it, Nate has two choices: 1. Bench Roy for the rest of the series and pray that Patty, Nic and Rudy can get the job done for the bench (yeah, that's going to work), or 2. Move Roy back to the SG spot and play him there for all of the backup minutes and more than that if he gets hot. Rudy and Patty can split the backup PG minutes. I don't know if it would work or not, but you have to put Brandon in a position to have a chance to succeed if the Blazers want a chance to succeed in this series.

Legit question: do you think that, with an offseason of work, that Roy can become an uber-James Jones? A creaky-kneed guy who is lethal from 3 (especially the corner), with the added benefit of being able to drive every once in a while?

Because I'm not seeing evidence that Roy-The-Creator is around anymore, and if he's taking jumpers I'd rather them be from 3 than from 2.

I've been wondering the same thing, because I think that you're right that long term that's his only shot at remaining an effective player. I don't necessarily agree that Roy's days as a creator are done. I think a summer's work and a training camp are needed to determine whether he can regain some of his quickness and confidence. He insists that it's not a pain problem, so I'll take his word for that. He wouldn't be the first guy to need a considerable amount of time to trust in his knees again after double knee surgery.

Except all Roy had done was his knees scoped. As far as knee surgeries go that is very minor. It was just a clean out not a major repair and rebuilding of something in the knees.

True, but Roy was already dealing with knees that had been giving him a lot of pain all season. I think that there's a mental aspect to the cumulative effects of what he's been going through. I'm not ready to throw Roy under the bus until I see where he is by training camp.

Plenty of "Thanks for saving the franchise, but what have you done for us lately" "fans" seem willing to help push him there.

Yep. It's the one thing about this specific community that is different from the ESPN crowd.

S E L F I S H and immature. Incredible. He has the pain tolerance of a 2yr old. Slow to get off the floor his entire career...always the victim. He had the talent to become elite but is not mentally strong enough or mature enough to be the leader of an elite team. Sad. Such is our life as fans of this franchise.
