I have to bring this up again because some of you guys lately have been giving me reason to believe that you don't like him. I have few issues with him other than his internation intentions and with allowing the league to be dominated by guards.
I have a few problems with him.1. What a stupid idea to make players dress up nice. People should be able to dress how ever they want to that was just pathetic.2. He wants to also ban those long things on there arm I think. If it's true don't see the point of that at all.
Honstly, besides him giving too many unneccesary suspensions, i dont believe that there is anything wrong with the guy. He is attempting to clean up the league by making their a dress code and such. He needs to realize though when you suspend a guy for a playoff game, there better be a good reason for it. Not just a hard foul. Some of the ways tha the handles on the court situations arent that great. And i dont agree that the NBA is dominated by guards because he allows it. It is just simply harder for their to be a good big man than to be a good guard...

The only min problem I have w/ him is his way of discipline. Yes I know hes trying to be consistent w/ suspensions but IMO you DO NOT suspend a player for a game in the playoffs because of a hard foul. Its the dumbest excuse for a suspension in the playoffs i have ever heard and it shouldn't be done. I mean really how amny suspensions were there in the playoffs. Ive thought of 4 already and im not even sure if im remembering them all.
I lost a lot of respect for him when he said he was trying to eliminate leggings out of the NBA. I mean, apply the rule around the NBA, and why not take away headbands, wristbands, etc.? Like c'mon, I believe in proper attire but there is definitely nothing wrong with leggings. What is the difference with high socks/leg sleeves? It's just fashion.

What is wrong with David Stern wanting a better image for the NBA as a whole? If David Stern wants his players to wear suites and what not when they are injured or not playing, i dont see anything wrong with that. They are rich, they can afford to wear nice clothing and is it honestly that hard to put a suit on. As for the arm bands and the leg socks. I think that is a little over the edge. Players can make the case that the attire makes them player better. That should be enough for David Stern to allow them to wear it...

They are still apart of the league.....It would be like you going to a meeting of another company that you got invited to and showing up in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Would you honestly do that??? i dont think so

Why make them fake?Just because you come dressed in big baggy jeans, big *ss Jersey, and a cap on your head does not make you a bad person.............Just like having a guy dress up in a suite does not mean your a good guy.

I just said they have to wear a suit when they are actually doing their job. On the way into or out of the building isn't a big deal. I don't know about you guys, but when I leave work, I unbutton my shirt a bit and untuck my shirt, and take off my tie. Half of the time I'm walking to my desk, I don't have my tie on yet. Hell, and it's not like the coats that I wear are sportcoats. I'm not saying that NBA players can't be forced to dress a certain way, I'm just saying that it should be a team rule. The board of directors doesn't control the dress code at my job, the departments do.
Reasons why I don't care of his decision making. But, I still give the guy some repect.A. Unreasonable suspensions. You know what I am talking about when it comes to the players that received suspensions for unheard of reasons.B. Some rule changes. I don't really agree with all the new rule changes and think he is going over the edge. But, I do agree with some of the dress code changes. Just makes the NBA Outlook look better.
I don't like him because I think that:A) He's way too strict, as several people have said. Yeah, maybe that's Stu Jackson, but Stern's got the final say. The dress code. Not really that big of an issue to me, although I thought it was a bit stupid, but on the bright side I'm now a fan of Jermaine O'Neal after he spoke against it - he sounded like a pretty articulate guy. My main beef is with the leggings. Why ban leggings? They're not that tacky, and if they stop injuries, then maybe there's a reason players wear them.C) I don't think he's doing enough to help the officiating. It seems to be getting worse every year. There needs to be a major change made somewhere at the top.D) US basketball is pretty much going to hell. I realize this isn't really his responsibility, but I'd like to see him try other things to shore up the game. I like the one-year rule he implemented though, so I don't really hold this against him.E) The league itself just isn't that strong. It leans too much on superstars, and not on the actual teams. A Finals with Detroit vs San Antonio shouldn't suffer because Kobe isn't in it, or the Lakers aren't in it. It also relies too much on certain teams, like LA.F) He needs to stop fixing things that ain't broke. Let people play defense again. Every time someone looks at a guard the wrong way it shouldn't be a foul. And I'm not really sure why there's going to be a new ball.
Your a fan of Jermaine O'Neal because he acted like a little baby over the dress code? The dress code was nothing but positve in my opinion and i'm glad he implimented it. The tights NBA players are wearing look ridiculous and I think they should be banned. Like i've said before the NFL's uniform restrictions are much worse than the NBA's. We've already debated NBA officating into the ground, I think the media and a overly 'blame everyone else' fan base is more of a problem than a few missed calls. The NBA has been a superstar driven league for longer than Stern has been the commish.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Your a fan of Jermaine O'Neal because he acted like a little baby over the dress code?</div>Pretty much, yeah. It's not that he whined, it's that it was the first time I'd ever seen him do an interview and I ended up liking his personality.Who cares if the tights look ridiculous? If they actually prevent injury, then I think the league would be stupid to ban them. If they don't, who cares? It's like banning a headband. I'm not disagreeing that the NFL is stupid about their restrictions, but this is a David Stern thread, not a Paul Tagliabue thread.I'm not debating the officiating, either. I'm simply saying that it sucks and needs to be improved in both the regular season and the playoffs. And it has been superstar-driven for a while now, but I think that he could do more to try to push more of the emphasis onto teams.
