what makes andres stats even more amazing is the fact that he has never played with a winning team, never had a bunch of good players to, you know, assist.
No way! Team effort. Only players like a LJ, Kobe or someone like that could single-handedly win a series. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely don't agree that Miller not making it past the first round is his fault at all. Let me go on record saying that.
I posted a fact, and made no comment other than posting the fact. Others can interpret it as they please.
Even though I have the OP on ignore, for obvious reasons, I know EAXCTLY what this thread is about. We've seen it all before and it's SO predictable. So, let me guess... The Blazers lose a couple games in a row and PapaG starts a thread bashing Andre Miller. Nevermind that Miller has totally outplayed Portland's other guards, we are losing this series and it's all Andre Miller's fault. Because PapaG thinks basketball is an individual sport - at least when it comes to blaming his favorite target everytime the Blazers lose. Teams don't lose playoff series, Andre Miller loses playoff series all by himself. So, Miller has a PER of 24.7 for this series. Roy is at -8.2, Matthews is at 2.0 and Patty Mills is at -34.0. Yet, by some twsited form of illogic only he understands, the OP is trying desparately to find a way to pin losing this series on his favorite scapegoat. That's what makes him a troll and that's why he's on ignore (but will respond to this post anyway, probably playing the victim card, which is his other calling card and why I knew BGrantFan was really PapaG after only 8 posts). Like I said, SO predictable. BNM
So if you have a poster set to "ignore", how is it that you can read this thread? Excuse me if I'm not "clued in" to the rules of this forum. I take it you and Papa don't get along?
I can still read what everyone else posts in the thread, and also when they quote the ignored poster - although I tend to manually ignore those as I know what he's going to say before he says it anyway. He's that predictable and tedious. BNM
Okay so you can read the OP's starting thread then? But everything after is ignored? So let me guess, you are pro-miller; dislike Roy because he is anti-miller. Obviously Papa is pro-roy and you and him are like oil and vinegar because they are kinda a "Ying and Yang" on the team. Almost like you want Miller to succeed, then Roy must fail. If you want Roy to succeed, then Miller must fail? Well I sure wish both of them would succeed. That would be awesome!
No, you have that backwards. I can't read ANYTHING posted by the ignored poster, but I can read EVERYTHING everyone else posts (including those who quote the ignored poster in their responses). Nope, not at all. I'm only pro-Miller in the sense that I'm anti-anti-Miller. I am 100% against those who bash Miller constantly and unfairly. That includes both certain posters in this forum and certain members of the local media who proclaimed "Miller and Roy can't coexist" before the two of them ever set foot on the court together - and have staunchly defended that position even when it was obviously not true. Go back and look at Roy's performance last season during the time between when Miller took over for Blake as the starting PG and when Roy got injured. Roy played some of the best, most productive ball of his entire career during that stretch. And, also look at how well the team performed down the stretch late last season with Roy and Miller starting together in the backcourt. The team went 18-6 over the last 24 games of the season, in spite of a very tough schedule - with Miller and Roy not only coexisting, but thriving. The nonsense about them not being able to coexist was just that - nonsense. When Brandon was healthy, and they played together, they were both productive and the team won at a very high percentage. The problems have been when Roy is less than 100% and simply can't do the things he once could (like last year in the playoffs against Phoenix, much of this season and now during the playoffs against Dallas) - but that's an injury problem that has led to diminished skills and not an Andre Miller coexistance problem. Nope, not in my case. I want them both to succeed for the good of the team - like they did during significant stretches of the 2009-10 season. Unfortunately, Roy is not the player he once was and rather than admitting that to himself, he seems to want to blame others (Miller and Nate) for his abysmal production. As do I, unfortunately, barring some medical breakthrough, I just don't see that happening. Unlike PapaG who has a long history of bashing Andre Miller, I haven't bashed Roy until his whining about his PT during the playoffs (I have bashed Nate in the past for relying too much on the Roy ISO, but that's a Nate criticism, not a Roy criticism). He chose to put his own needs above those of the team at absolutely the most critical time of the season. That's selfish and immature and he deserves to be criticized for doing so. If anyone else on the team had done the same thing, I would have criticized them equally. BNM
Well then, that is the perfect answer. I love Miller and I love Roy and I wish them both success for this team. I agree that Roy will never be like he was, but I just can't stomach bashing him for his medical condition. Everyone does have a right to be upset with his comments. I will agree to that.
Yeah it is worrying for lot of us. Not to mention he's only won ONE series in 10 years of NBA coaching. Sure fire Hall of Famer IMO. (Insert your best McDillon excuse here ________________)
If that's a reference to me, please show me where I've bashed Roy for his medical condition. My only "bashing" has been for his selfish comments, putting his own needs ahead of those of the team, during the playoffs when he simply isn't performing at a level that would warrant more playing time - and even if he was, complaining to the media about PT during the playoffs is worthy of criticism FOR ANYONE. It's not just his comments, it's the timing that I found most inappropriate. You simply don't whine about PT during the playoffs. This is a team game, not an individual sport. Team comes first - ESPECIALLY DURING THE PLAYOFFS when it's win or go home. BNM
Nope no reference to you. Just a reference in general. When I was upset and posting what I was, it was mainly on the comments on the articles. Basically things like wishing he was dead, can't wait to go to the Rose Garden to boo him. Things like that. To me, that isn't a sign of a logical fan. It does nothing for the team and is just as much harmful as the possibilities that Roy's comments could have on the team.
Well, I certainly don't agree with such ridiculously extreme positions. Nor do I think they are remotely representative of the majority of Blazers fans. I won't be at the game tonight, but if I was I'd be cheering just as loud for Brandon Roy as every other member of my TEAM. I NEVER boo my team - EVER. I occasionally boo the refs (especially Dick Bavetta and Steve Javie) and occasionally heckle the opposition, but I never, ever boo my team. I'm there to support them. BNM
