Sly and I were on the phone talking about last game. Sly pointed out that Roy put forth a ton of energy on the floor in his 23 minutes of play. He was a bit concerned with how his knees would feel the very next day. When he mentioned it, I was a bit concerned too. But watching this video interview with Roy; he looks extremely positive and focused. It could be possible that he actually doesn't feel as bad as he thought he would; which made him even more excited to still play at that very high level.

It maybe nothing or not even a issue, but if it is, then it's a great sign for Blazer fans.

Yeah I was and still am concerned about his knees. It would be pretty damned depressing to play a great game like he did and then wake up the next morning and his knees feel like those of a 90 year old man.

After reading Quick's article I hope that Roy warms up exactly the same way he did before.

Watch the interview I linked from the very next day. He definitely looks excited, giddy and well just damn positive. I suspect if he woke up with 90 year old man knees, you wouldn't have seen that enthusiasm.

He actually hasn't mentioned any knee pain in quite some time. In fact, I don't think he's mentioned any knee pain, swelling or stiffness since coming back post surgery. Physically, he may not have the explosiveness he once had, but I don't think he's been experiencing significant pain in the knees recently. Shortly after he came back, they lifted the precautionary 20 minute PT limit - and there are no back-to-backs during the playoffs. And, even before his recent comments, he had been lobbying Nate for more minutes.

Which leads me to conclude that Roy's recent struggles have been more mental than physical. I'm not claiming he can instantly become the old Roy by getting his head on straight, but he does have the physical ability, right now, to be a significant contributor for this team if he plays with the same confidence and aggressiveness he did in game 3.

We really don't need a 20+ B-Roy, but I would love a 12-15 point, 3-5 assist Roy. And in 20-25 minutes. Could happen!
