Elvin Hayes was robbed in 1977 by Bill Walton. He was rebounding like a monster that year on top of 20 ppg scoring. Also his team won the CHAMPIONSHIP. While Waltons team was eliminated in the second round. Also in 2002 in Jason Kidds first season with the Nets he led a team who had a horrible record the season before to the NBA finals. The Nets didnt even make the playoffs the year before. He shows up and leads them to the NBA finals. He was snubbed by Tim Duncan.Kobe Bryant THIS SEASON......

Iverson in 04-05, and 05-06. Yes this past season they did not even make the playoffs, and to many players who had a great season made the playoffs. But in 04-05 wow there was not to many guys like this year, and they made the playoffs even thought they got knocked out by DET who went to the finals. Yet even in 04-05 he finished like 4th in voting behind Nash, Shaq, and Dirk if I am not mistaken.Lebron, and Kobe this season. Lebron #'s 31.4 | RPG 7 | APG 6.6 amazing

LeBron got snubbed as hell. I guess the league didnt want to give the MVP award to a 20 year old with already freakish skills. [IMG]

Iverson in the passed 2 years? Please, he made the playoffs once in those 2 years and it was a 1st round exit too. Plus, AI over Nash, Dirk, Shaq in 04-05, LeBron, and Kobe? Even Brand/Billups this year. No way.But I agree with Kidd in 02 and Kobe this year. And I can't quite pick out only 1 year off the top of my head but it just baffles me how Shaq only has 1 MVP. It also baffles me how a guy like Kobe has 0.

I don't buy the Iverson pick... I mean, I guess I can see it if we're arguing he should have probably been higher in the voting (if we take into consideration how poor his teammates were, etc., like so many people wanted to do this year with Kobe and LBJ), but him winning those two years? Absolutely no way. Yes, those were the best statistical seasons of his career, but he didn't deserve the MVP award those two years.

So what do you all think about the 04-05 season? And Iversons team did make the playoffs even though they got knocked out in the first round by DET who went to the finals. It's 3 AM hope this is right I had to look it up since I don't remember the stats for the other guys.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Zards @ Jun 27 2006, 02:28 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>LeBron got snubbed as hell. I know all most does not count we lost the series just thought I would mention it. And yea in 04-05 AI over Nash, Shaq, and Dirk. But this season I never said AI over Lebron, and Kobe I said he also had a MVP type season, but a lot of guys did who made the playoffs. And I would not vote for Brand, and espacially Billups this season for MVP over AI. Brand maybe he did amazing, but Billups? Come on ask your self with out Billups would that team make the playoffs the answer is yes. They be like the 5th best team in the Eastern Conference with out Billups you take AI of the Sixers they would have a worse record then the Knicks. LOL

Voters usually decide on team record for example Nash these two years or Garnett in 2004 when Minnesota won 58 games. If you haven't noticed how the MVP works, almost every time the player with the better team record will win it. I'm not trying to start another does he deserve the MVP thread but, think about what a team like Phoenix would be without Nash. You would have Raja Bell, Tim Thomas, Boris Diaw and Marion who can't create his own shot. Without Nash that sounds like a pretty bad team, same can be said for Kobe though.I think Shaq was also robbed in 95, he got second place right behind David Robinson even though he put up more points and rebounds. Again though, Robinson probably won it because San Antonio won 62 games that season against Shaq's 57.

Like with out AI/Kobe there teams be worse then the Knicks were. With out Lebron team might make the 8th seat in the weak Eastern Conference, but still that team would be awful with out Lebron. Then I look at Billups would that team be in the playoffs with out him, and the answer is not only yes. But also they be no worse then the 5th seat in the Eastern Conference with out him.And no way AI should have won it this year just because of how many guys had amazing seasons, and making the playoffs. Even though he did have a MVP type season. But in 04-05 AI should have been the MVP. Look at the stats I post of the top 3 guys who finished in front of AI in the MVP voting in 04-05.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Heatfan32 @ Jun 27 2006, 03:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't see what the playoffs really have anything to do with it, it's the regular season MVP. It will usually always go the #1 seeded teams from whatever conference because that means x player is very valuable to his team. Nash that first season came in and led the league in wins and no one expected him to do that off the bat. What made Nash win it this season is that with Amare's injury everyone wondered whether Steve could lead the team, fortunately so he lead the team to the second seed in the west which is why he won back to back.Even if Iverson did deserve it that season, the better teams star player will usually always get it.

But they should give it to a player who's team did not make the playoffs if the guy is better then the guy who's team made the playoffs. But if they are having a = year then they should give it to the player who's team made the playoffs, or better. But yea this season so many of the guys had a MVP seasons, and most made the playoffs. This season there were like 10 guys who really could have won the MVP.I understand why Nash won this season he did a great job, but I think Lebron, and Kobe for sure deserved it more. Kobe most thought that team would not make the playoffs. And with out Lebron that team probably miss the playoffs.Yea, and it's not even like AI did not make the playoffs last season. I think he should have won it even if his team would not have made the playoffs, but AI's team made the playoffs so he should def have gotten the MVP in the 04-05 season.

If your team has a bad record and your putting up amazing stats you don't deserve the MVP what so ever. It means your not valuable to your team at all, it maybe that your team is below average but it's all in your hands to lead them. This is exactly what Nash did, Tim Thomas, Raja Bell and Boris Diaw were not house-hold names before Nash came and made them better. I don't always agree with the best team having the MVP but I think your team should have a good record and a playoff berth in order for you to be a candidate.

Then how is it your fault the team missed the playoffs? When in some cases it's just not possible to make the playoffs with the players you have around that 1 great player. And it might mean that with out you they would lose like 15 more games then they did. But before this season in 04-05 Nash had Marion, and Amare Stoudmire that was way better then Korver with no D, butter finger Sammy, and even better then Iguodala. And even this season Nash had Marion still. But I was talking about last season 04-05 mostly. And even if you say the team of the player should be in the playoffs they were last season (04-05).

The next year, Nash comes to Phoenix and the Suns win 60 games and lock up first place in the West. In the East Shaq went to the Heat who had won only 42 games the year before, and they suddenly won 59 the next season. So that gave the apperance that Shaq and Nash who finished first and second in voting, was a more valuable part to their teams than Iverson was to his team.If you wanted to use stats like these as a reason for players to win MVP awards, then i could make a good case for why Tracy Mcgrady should have won the MVP award in 2002-2003. He finished first in scoring, at 32.7 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 5.5 assists per game and 1.65 steals per game, while shooting 45.7 percent from the field. They also made the playoffs, at 42-40, so by your reasoning this should have been Tracy Mcgrady's year because he was a stat filler.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Wade3 @ Jun 27 2006, 07:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Ok, he may have some great talent but, there are quite a bit other guys with more than him with more talent and more sucessful teams. As far as talent and potential Lebron James is the one with almost unlimited talent and potential. Defense is not overly hard to get good at, it takes dedication and practice. From what i see Lebron James has the dedication and ethic to work to get better at it. As far as offense goes, he is the most well rounded offensive player in the league, and that is over anyone playing right now.

I would say Shaq in the 2001 season, the year where AI won it.

What you would you expect from him if he has only been in the league for 3 years? Also straight outta HS...I dont necessarily love LeBron, but I do respect him. And for the amount of credit you're giving him is just ridiculous. Give him some time, its too early right now. P.S. And btw, as valo said, LeBron has the most talent in the league. There is nobody that has higher potential than him. The sky's the limit for LeBron.
